As this was an accidental loss of a tooth, you can ask your vet to write a letter indicating that the tooth was subjected to an accident. Therefore if you are asked about the tooth you can show that it is not due to a fault in the breed standard. As this is a front tooth however,it would be very noticable and may be challenged by a judge. Our eldest dog lost a molar due to a tugging game, but has never been questioned by a judge but again not as noticable when showing his bite to a judge.

Yes you can, in this case you do not even have to ask for permission as it has not been removed in an operation - I would though ask the vet for a letter and seek the permission to show from the KC just in case anyone asks. As this is a hound I would not expect judges to be tooth counting they will be more interested in the bite which will still be evident so I am sorry about your hounds accident but I do not thing it will hamper her showing career unless she was destined to be a very high flyer in which case it may just put her at a disadvantage.

thanks,  it is really obvious at the moment and right in the middle at the front. I probably wont show her but the option would of been nice. i still live with the hope she will blossom from a ugly duckling into a beautifull swan lol

either way she is a very muched love pet and will continue to be regardless :o))

Think a judge would notice a gap but would not deem it important - the judge will want to see that the jaw is correct and that the bite is scissor but would not worry about what is obviously a tooth missing from some accident. Most show dogs are much loved pets so you would be in good company should you decide to give it a try.

As whippets are often raced, and many other breeds are worked, would it not count as an 'honourable scar' or however it's termed, as it could have been lost while working? It would seem a shame to penalise a dog that does its original job for an accident in the line of duty.
