My Scottie was spayed last week and where her wound is its quite sore and swollen. I took her back to see the vet who said that it was not infected although it looked sore. She is due to have her stiches out on Monday. I am a bit worried about infection, is there anything I can bathe or put on it that may help avoid any infection?? It does feel like there is a lump where to scar is?
My girl was spayed last Tuesday and we are having the stitches out later today, they dressd the wound so it has been covered. Last night she managed to remove some of the dressing and am pleased to say it appears to have healed well, I know there are divided opions re covered/uncovered or to bathe/not to bathe.
I gave her Arnica tablets daily to help the healing and upped her Garlic & Fenugreek to help prevent infection. That said we have to consult the vet tonight as her ears are hot and she keeps shaking her head ( I wonder if they got any water ion them when descaling her teeth!!??)
Good Luck
Sawheaties, what was your dog's covered with??? I wonder if covering it may stop it catching as she is quite low to the ground!!!

One of our BH had a long scar after cryptorchidism, it took a long time to heal. Had antibiotics at one stage and even then had small patches of infection around a couple of stitches. Looking back I'm sure this was due to him being 'low' to the ground, even though we did our best to keep him clean. Bathed with boiled water with a little salt to keep clean and I think something like Savalon. But would ask your vet as to what he advices and what you could use to cover the wound with when not resting.
It is a mesh like plaster which the vet applied. When I'm there later I'll ask what it is called.
Molly had a little lump at one end of the scar fora while, it was where the internal suture not was and was nothingto worry about. Once the suture disolved it disappeared. Could it be a reaction to the suture material?

My little girl had her stitches out on Tuesday after spaying, and she had a swelling at one end of the cut which was caused by the beginning of infection where the knot was in the internal stitching and her body was reacting to it. She had 5 days AB which was enough to stop the infection developing and everything then healed well.
Just back from vet with my girl, the bottom stitch didn't hold as they were taken out so I have been advised to bathe with dilute salt water (it's nice and clean just not healed) she has a slight temperature so we got an anti biotic jab.
They say the ears are an allergic reaction to something, well she never had it before spaying so I have been given doggy antihistamine but will be consulting our homeopath.
