Does anyone know how long it takes to get an export pedigree ?

Bit confused as the subject says importing a dog but you're talking about an export pedigree -do you mean an export pedigree for you to sell a puppy abroad, or for you to import a dog and register it in the UK? When you import a dog, to get it registered here takes around 28 days. I don't know anything about export pedigrees but any of the official KC pedigrees you can buy online will take up to 14 days it says.
I am importing the dog and was just wondering how long it will take for the breeder to get the export pedigree .... it seems to be taking a while. The breeder is brining the dog to me and would like to show it in england on my behalf the dog will have been registered in my name so i will need to enter the dog for him to handle,I know i need a ATC Number from the KC but cant do that until i get the export pedigree and time is getting on this is my problem. Is there anything i can do while i am waiting.

The ATC number is for dogs resident abroad only. Timing will vary from country to country but we imported a dog in December, finally got his KC registration through in April --first we had the wait for the Dutch KC pedigree then the KC reg here. Hence it took 4 months before we could show him.

Don't know where you are getting it from but takes ages with the SPanish KC!
Thanks MariannB for your help.
The dog will be in my name and staying permanently in the UK,So if i wish to show this dog will i need a ATC Number :/

I have imported from Czech Republic and Hungary, the Czech KC were very slow but the Hungarian KC were very quick so I think it does depend.
If the dog in question has an export pedigree (or will have) and will be in your name you could always register it with the KC here, then you won't need an ATC.
hth,

ah, very cunning, I shall have to remember that one! :-)
Your name and UK address should be put onto the export pedigree in the country of origin. I have always had this done well in advance of the dogs 1st available travelling date. Say 3 months. Once I get a copy (usually quickly) I register the dog with the KC. Therefore the dog is registered in the UK before arrival, therefore you can enter shows with ahead of time even before it arrives here. I have never had a problem with this however some friends did, it was the breeder holding onto everything until she received final and full payment for the dog which is understandable.
