Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Is it me??

I have suddenly realised that entires are closing for many shows in the next few weeks. I can't afford to enter all of them, even with just entering 1 dog.
Pay day falls 2 days after many of the closing dates as well :-(   Boooo..

Now have to work out pretty quickly which one/s i really want to attend...Decisions decisions.
Am i the only one who seems to have this problem or Is It just me?

Nope, I am in a member of the church mouse club too. I joined when I decided to give up a very well paid full time job to go freelance and be able to walk dogs every day.

Just to add to the dogshow roulette, I can get suddenly swiped by work, which means even if I pay I can't guarantee I can go.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but some clubs seem to pay in cheques close to or even after the show, which means they are sitting on a cheque for two or more weeks. I'd gladly pay a good premium to know that I could be invoiced for a show and pay up to or on the day.

Dream on...

No, it's not just you Sue - and, even worse, the one you enter after careful consideration has a change of judge at the last minute - grrr!

nope you not alone......................... i've quit entering open shows to fund the champ shows.........

I'm in the process of giving up a reasonable paid job for one on less money  but less hours and therefore more time to concentrate on the dogs (and the housework) BUT I've already had to make a few tough calls on what shows we're going to enter over the next few months and then look at the results of the also ran and wish we'd gone!

I would love to qualify my boy for Crufts but it'll be luck at the shows we end up doing. I'd like to take the second dog so we're got a back up dog for handling classes when their classes clash, but no way can I cover an extra £26 ish for a dog that wouldn't be placed if over 5 in the class just so she can be entered in a handling qualifier..  I'm sure there are a lot in the same position.

Well I have plumped for 1 champ show, can't afford 2 this month. Also can only afford to take 1 dog too :-(
Everything is becoming more and more expensive and wages don't reflect this, its a real shame as there are a few shows i want to enter because of the judge. Also petrol costs have to come into the costing too..

I think we need to have a place to offer lift share on here to shows further affield too.

sue i agree. lift share is the way 2 go xx
