Lord just thought of another potential problem.

timing of tick and Tapeworm treatment and the difference in time zones.

New York are some 5? hours ahead of us (might be more can't remember), and then of course Europe are 1 hour ahead of US.

When I reach the Ferry port what will the bods make of the time which will be US Eastern time?

I think I may ask the Vet to put 3 times, US, Europe and UK???

Also is the time 24 - 48 before crossing to UK or reaching UK?

Oh Lordie time zones may just put a spanner in the works !!  If you plan to travel via stena I would give them a call to ask how this can be done and get something in writing, and / or perhaps DEFRA could help ? Not sure if check in staff would automatically make time adjustments if required, I don't imagine they have this problem too often.

I can help with the timing for treatment however - the time is taken from CHECK IN at the port not arrival in UK. Once you have checked in you are officially in UK so minimum is 24hrs from check in time and max 48 hrs from check in. Most ferries have a last check in 45 mins prior to departure and I generally try to check in at last minute to avoid having dogs on board longer than necassary (In holland once checked in you will be taken directly to load onto the ship) BUT if you are tight on time check in usually opens 2hrs prior to departure if that helps ?

The time is very important, also ensureing the vet signs the PETs, otherwise it becomes invalid.
I have plenty of dogs in quarantine for 24 to a week while things are sorted.
You will need to do the treatment correctly.
I have put in a check list I send clients, I have highlighted some important ones.

PET PASSPORT CHECK LIST

1.  MICROCHIP    - Date and Time of implant (must be earliest date i.e. before Relevant Rabies Inoculation)
- Check number with scanner.
- Information and number entered into Pet Passport.

2.  RABIES INOCULATION  - Confirm relevant Date and Time.
- Also ensure that Rabies inoculations are in sequence and that there is no break in vaccination dates.
- Information and Sticker entered into Pet Passport.

3.  BLOOD SAMPLE    - Normal taken 28 to 34 days after inoculations.
- Must be dated after the above actions.
- Laboratory report confirming date of test with a good result i.e. Titre above 0.05 is correct.
- Information and Sticker entered into Pet Passport
- Pet Passport must be stamped by the Vet.
- Pet Passport becomes VALID 6 months after date of BLOOD SAMPLE TAKEN.

      ADDITIONAL TREATMENTS

4.  Front line -Treatment including the date and time, treatment must be within 48 hours of checking in for transport to England, will be entered in Pet Passport by Vet.

5.  Drontal Plus - Treatment including the date and time, treatment must be within 48 hours of checking in for transport to England, will be entered in Pet Passport by Vet.
