Topic Dog Boards / General / What is it about your breed that you like?
- By Tricolours [gb] Date 25.04.10 16:19 UTC
We have a lab cross and what i like about her is she is easy to train, not a lot of grooming involved and she is nice looking. :)

So why do you like your breed?

All replies welcome.

The size, the smell (of my boy, not so much the girl), the terrier tenacity.
Of course all the doggy things...loyalty etc.
I don't like my dogs, more, I really love them.

Karen :)

I like the fact that, no matter what, they think I'm perfect.

And I don't need a second opinion!  :-)

I have a real mix of breeds, but I love them all for their own funny little ways, and because they give me so much love, they read my mind, and if I am a little down they don't leave my side. They are my companions, my best friends and my whole life.

I couldn't give you a reason, there are too many!

Im with you I would say "because he loves me" .

With Col's BC the devotion in that dogs eyes is something to experiance - he puts up with me.

Both of our need grooming and walking, both are real characters & Whistler , bless, smells!!!!

The way they love me unconditionally, but that's probably most breeds if you have a bond with your dog. Also the beauty of their coats, their large dark eyes, their lovely long ears. The way they always snuggle close to me on the sofa, and get up to follow me everywhere as if they can't bear to be without me (or are hoping for food!). :-)

Ok ok I admit it! sometimes I hide from Whistler and i have been known to walk around and around the board room table and he follows me!! Does this make me a bad person??

Lol I did that with my gsd once around the pool tale. She started getting annoyed because she couldnt get to me :D

I love both my dogs because they are dogs and not humans ;) I love my thick gorgeous long so soft hair on my GSD, I love the way she looks at me like she loves me, the way she always watches what I am doing if I get up, the greeting I get when I come home, the way she looks at me occasionally on the walk for me to wink at her so she knows I am okay....along with plenty more.

My new rottie rescue has started looking at me in the same way, I love the way he barges around, I love the way he has broken two pots already in the garden from being a bulldozer (I really do :D) I love the way if you make him wait to long before you stroke him he reminds you he is there by 'woo woo woooo'. I love the way he play growls when we play.

I love them both to bits :) They are on par with my kids really, wouldn't be with out them ever.

I love my breed's sense of humour and the way they like to sit anywhere they can keep an eye on you...especially if I'm cooking! And the way they bob up very politely to the counter to see what's going in the dinner--no complaints so far.

I love the way they are so gentle with the children, I also love the way they lay flat on the sofa and look like a little rug :-)

I love my BC's intelligence and lust for life.

I love most of all the devotion of my 15 year old who I rescued aged 3. I love how he just knows when I need a hug. I love how, despite the abuse he suffered at the hands of humans, he opened his heart and placed his trust in me 100%. I admire that ability to forgive.

I love the conversations I have with all my dogs! Yes, really...we have quite long chats normally about where we will walk, what's for tea, who's coming to visit. And I really love how the tilt their head from side to side during these chats :)

I love the fact that my two gsd's seem to now what i am about to do before I do it! My Rotty pup is the most even tempered dog I have ever known, I feel very lucky to have all my 3 dogs.  They are all very different in personalities but most of all I love the fact that whatever we do together they seem so greatful and happy. I talk to them alot on walks and am sure my eldest gsd (8) really seems to understand so much of what i say.

I love the way my girlies follow me from room to room, and can be fast asleep until I touch the cheese in the fridge...then they all arrive stretching and yawning for thier little cheesy snack! I love the cuddlyness of them and the big fur coats, their sad brown eyes and the laughing smiles, The velcro feet that soak up the mud and the joy on their faces when I touch a lead. The way they all rush to greet me when I come home at 10.30pm from a horrible shift at work and then all want to sit on my chair with me and listen to my woe's. I love the way they all want to give me a big fat paw to hold and insist in escorting me to the loo! I love them so much it hurts! Poor OH hardly gets a look in ;) ;) but he loves them just as much as I do so thats OK.

I love the way my gang all have different ways of dealing with a situation.
Example - If a burglar came in

1 My GSD would get her ball to play with him
2 My spaniel would stare at his hands to see if he had any food with him
3 My boxers would pass wind and go back to sleep ( lethal and guaranteed to get rid of any intruder)
4 My little terrier would kill him !!!!

I love the way my boy just knows. Everything.
The way he whines and squeals with delight before a walk, unable to contain his joy.
How he only fancies a cuddle when Im on the loo. His independence and loyalty.
I love how his little face changes shape and has so many expressions when he is tired/happy/stroppy/playful.
He suprises me with how clever he is and how gentle with breakable objects, choosing to carry things around, head held high, than to destroy it :)

Since I have been living alone, every time Mason barks/growls at strange noises I reward him for alerting me. Now if he hears something odd or someone is where they shouldnt be, he comes to me barking and bouncing around as if to say "Mum!!Mum!! I reckon someones trying to steal our stuff! Just letting you know...treat please!!"
Bless his little heart, I cant think of anything I dont like about him :)

I love the way they sit ON my feet when they see me ready to go walkies ..just in case I forget one of them

The beardie hugs I get after they have been fed or  if I just look like I need one...whether I do or not ..its a coming..

The way they make people feel special when they visit our home with lots of kisses although not always appreciated.! (but it makes me grin..)

letting me groom them without acting up, by jumping on the sofa ready when they see me carrying my bag ..even though they are not fussed about thier coat or hair being a mess ...

Making me feel special when they sit on my knee for a belly tickle giving me a big kiss at the end.

My secret delight..is all 3 of them  refusing to go walkies without me ..they stop at the end of the drive if I dont appear they refuse point blank to move... with my OH or son it drives them crazy .

To watch them sleeping kinda makes my heart skip a beat ..I love them all sooooo much.
