My big boy has just saved my next door but one neighbour being attacked whilst he was being burgled!

He has just alerted us that my ndb1 neighbour had burglers upstairs. He is a disabled man and was sat downstairs whilst it was all happening. My boy went absolutely trying to climb over the fence, teeth bared barking his head off (savagely) at the upstairs window which alerted next door when he saw the curtains closing. He went round to see the ndb1 neighbour and told him to get out the house as 3 massive blokes came down the stairs waving claw hammers, they went running down the yard throwing bricks at both neighbours and drove off in an Audi!

So my boy is a hero... if he hadn't alerted the neighbour by going mad at the window of the disabled man, the disabled man would have been in the house whilst the burglers were coming down the stairs!

Big dinner for my McCartney tonight!

Well done to your boy! It gives you a good feeling, doesn't it? My dogs barked when my neighbours garage was been broken into at night and scared them off. Not in the same league as your boy, but it stopped my neighbours complaining so much about my dogs;-)

Thanks guys... I'm so so proud of him. I always knew he would bark at someone on our garden, but I never thought he would react like that... Dogs really do have a 6th sense for these things... He recognised they shouldn't be in his house and I'm pretty sure he'd have fought to the death if the need had arisen.

If only all these good news stories about dogs were as highly publicised as the bad things.

In these days when we hear of so many 'dangerous' dogs, isn't it great to hear of a dog doing one of the ancestral things for which we originaly tamed them - protection of what is dear to us. Be that won't get into the papers!

Oh my gosh, how frightening.

My dogs barked one night, neighbours complained, only then to realise somebody had been in their garden and stole all of their brand new garden furniture,  enough said!

Must be a weekend for good dogs. My boys went beserk in the garden yesterday, which alerted us and a couple of other neighbours. men up ladders at the house at the back of us. As it turned out all was well, they had locked themselves out, but my boys earned their brownie points with the neighbours. Lots of good boys and well dones all round.

Good for you - my lad needs to have people up ladders pointed out to him, with the words: "Bark, you daft dog - they could be burglars!" (usually makes the workmen smile)... but he will bark the house down if he hears a bee fart in next-doors garden. Go figure.

if we make a "buzz" sound my dallie will pick up any bits on the carpet just in case it was the culprit!!

Talking of odd sayings "a bee fart" my nan would say thats smaller than a Knats c--k not very polite but we all knew that meant small!!!

Well done to your clever boy! My boy Wheaten, Dougal, used to sleep in the living room and once woke me up in the middle of the night by barking. I could tell by the tone of his bark that something wasn't right. When I went into the living room, he was barking at the curtains which were closed. They were really thick curtains and you couldn't see any light or shadows outside. When I peered through them, there was a young lad looking in our car with a torch and trying out the door handle, Dougal gave a huge fierce 'WOOF' and the boy ran off. He must have heard his footstep or could just sense that he wasn't meant to be there, as you couldn't see a thing with the curtains closed.
But it was only when I turned back to my big brave guard dog to give him a kiss, did I realise he was sitting there shaking away looking at me like 'Oh Mum, that was really scary!' He slept in my bed that night as the living room was just too scary to sleep in! :-D

Oh, what a big brave boy! Give him a big hug from me too :)

I agree we need more of these stories in the news, to remind some people why they're man's best friend.
Why not ring your local paper?

I know but they could always lick them to death if they got in.

When my OH goes away and leves Whistler & I he gets to sleep in my bedroom!!!
