When you have your girl scanned can the scanner tell how far along she is & from what mating. Thank you.

When we had our bitch scanned, we were told how many days she was which told us what mating :-)

Mating day is irrelevant as all the fertilised eggs implant at about the same time, so there should be no difference time wise between ages of puppies.

The differences is size and development in an individual whelp will be down to how well it's placenta functions and it's place within the womb relative to the others (crowding).

The foetuses develop at a predictable rate from ovulation, conception occurs in about a 48 hour period regardless of mating day.

Hi all took my girl to be scanned today she took from first slip mating & vet said there were lots, saw some heartbeats. So far all is well, vet said that they looked all healthy. she is 33 days today. so slip matings do work.

That's wonderful news! I rang today to book our girls scan. We also had slip matings, so I'm very encouraged by your news :)

Scanned today...no puppies....gutted. :( All those signs, but nothing. :( We've had sickness, clear discharge & my girl off her food for most of last week, so we were really hopeful. To top it all, madam played up merry h*ll & we were asked to leave to see if she would calm down. I just hope she doesn't go through a phantom like last year. Maybe it's just not meant to be.

so sorry LittleGreen how far along is she there maybe a couple hiding under the ribcage that the scanner cannot see.

We had slip matings on 26th 28th & 31st March. We told them the possible mating dates & they said 'Yes, bring her down, we can tell by now'. When I say she played up...it was no joke, she went loopy, as we had our other girl there having her bowels investigated. (never ends does it!) So when Rosie was taken away from Cass....that was it, we got no sense out of her at all! Cass was also diagnosed with possible Colitis, as she had runny poo with blood stained mucus in. I have the dubious task of getting a stool sample now :( I could cry!!

So sorry to hear that. :-(
