Have been trying for WEEKS to get a language course onto my MP3 player and I'm just about tearing my hair out.
Some of the CD's (Advanced and Language builder ) have synced OK. But the main discs, tend to get scrambled, so that the tracks are all mixed up, even though the different discs are in the right order. I've tried various different approaches but nothing makes any difference. I've even tried doing it on Kubuntu, but I'm even more useless at using Amarok than I am with Windows Media Player :( Have tried on other MP3 players and have the same problem. I took one back to the shop as I thought it was faulty :(
Flash media player, 4G, no file conversion needed, supports MP3, wav, wma etc files. NOT iPOD
Other music CDs go on with no problems, but then it doesn't matter what order the music tracks take :(
If anyone has the answer, I'd be eternally grateful.

If the tracks are named rather than numbered your mp3 player may be putting them in alphabetical order. Try numbering the tracks in order ie; 01<track name>, 02 <track name> etc etc. That would explain why the disk are in order too as I would assume they are named the same except for the end where they are Disk 1, Disk 2 etc.

Tried various different ways of numbering them, including your suggestion :( Numbers before the tracks, numbers after the tracks, numbers before and after the tracks, with/without the Disk number (chaos! the tracks and disks were mixed)
Just can't understand why the Advanced disks went smoothly and the main disks won't :(
I also reformatted the MP3 player yesterday in desperation, just meant that I had to put the books and photos back on :( Advanced and Language builder are on.

Forgot to say, I've also tried creating each disk as a playlist, but that gets scrambled too :(
