On my walk this morning I realised just how small our rottie was compared to a female we met. The female was 6 months old and much bigger than our little man! As he was a rescue they basically guessed his age at a year, but he only weighs 29.10 kilos. You can see his ribs and he looks quite gangly at the moment, but his markings and face look like a true rottie.

His balls dropped the day after we got him, and he has adult teeth. It's quite strange having a dog I and not knowing his age lol.

My Rottie boy is skinny and much smaller than my girls. We rescued him (well took him off one of our employees when we saw the state of him) as a 5 month old. He was poorly bred, had never been wormed, or fed properly, and looked like an RSPCA advert, due to his ribs, spine and hips sticking out. He'd been attacked by a bitch who was just protecting her pups, and looked like an English bull terrier, as his nose was so swollen and septic.

He's a nervy boy and is fear agressive, and still ridiculously skinny. He's very healthy now, but it took 12 months to settle his stomach. We just can't get weight onto him, we think he burns it off through nervous energy. He's our boy though and we love him, even though he does have his moments!

If your boy is still young he may just be going through that stage where he's growing into his body, not sure that makes sense, but when I used to own Bullmastiffs, they went through growth spurts where they looked to be all limbs and skin, then they'd fill out to fit it.

Aw tadsey, that poor boy :( Sounds like he is in the right place now though :)

I do think that the rescue place may have guessed his age wrong, he also has his ribs showing but he isn't painfully thin. He probably is due a growth spurt, I know my gsd/rottie looked very lanky when she hit a year then she filled out and got more muscle.

I've sat here sometimes wondering what my little man has been through and seen. It appears to be good things in his past as he is very confident and silly puppy like, loves meeting new people so much too!

He probably won't grow any taller but will fill out bodywise. Our rescue Rottie was very lean at first, I have all his papers so know he's 6 now, and he's bodied up to look almost like a proper one bless him!

My friend took on a rescue and assigned Feb 14th, St Valentines day as the dog's birthday as no-one knew it.

We made our boys birthday the day he came to live with us from the rescue 19th March. This last month has flown by!
