Just had a quick look at the poodle genetics page.

Looks like:
black sire is A-B-C-D-E-F-ggS-vv
brown dam is A-bb-C-D-E-F-ggS-vv

The dam may carry one copy of 'e', and may have passed it on to your dog, but without a second copy of 'e' wouldn't be expressed. To be brown rather than apricot I think it means the dam must be 'Ee' if not 'EE', so if she is 'Ee' there's only a 50% probability of passing on the 'e' rather than 'E'.

Is there a way you know your dog doesn't carry 'e'?

I know about genetics in general, but have never looked at poodle coat colour genes before so just trying to work this out with you!

yep i had her vet gen tested! it came back saying she doesnt darry the e gene, but i cant understand it cos all her mothers side is white cream and apricot.so she must have some e gene in her?or am i looking at it all wrong.?i thought she'd get half her mothers and half her fathers gene.

which site did you look on then??
