when should a pup make the transition to adult dry dog food? some people say a year, others say 18 months. my akita was on "taste of the wild" dry food but ive switched back to arden grange large breed pup, shes a year old now, and wanted to move her on to the arden grange lamb, alot of top breeders have recommend this food for akitas

I moved my Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla to adult food at 12 months.  He was previously on Nutro puppy and, as Nutro was getting increasingly difficult to source, I moved him to Arden Grange Lamb and Rice. 

I now feed mostly raw but I like AG, as do the dogs, so this is our support food when travelling and for the odd meal here and there.  I tend to buy it from VetUK as the cheapest source but I always found AG customer service and nutrition advice second to none.  Highly recommend them :)

I'd say it depends on the breed, how large or small they are, how fast or slow they need to grow etc. My Malinois stay on puppy until about 18 months of age.

It does depend on the breed , I actually only use complete occasionally mostly as a mixer with fish etc BUT I use the puppy only due to the higher oil and meat content.

I have BCs and they are generally changed onto adult anytime after 6 months old.

With my BCs I'd tend to say roughly 10-12 months, but you need to be guided by the dog, plus the food you're giving.  My older girl was put onto adult at 5 1/2 months - she was hyper on the puppy, way too much protein for her, but the others have been 10 and 12 months.  I'd give AG a ring and see if they've any guidelines for your breed and type of food your feeding, might help as a starting point.
