When did you first feel definate movement?
What breed?
How many were in the litter?

I know it varies so much but I'm just interested :)
- By Brainless [gb] Date 13.04.10 18:24 UTC
I have hardly ever felt any movement except during whelping.
- By madogz77 Date 14.04.10 14:06 UTC
with my last few litters ( bordercollies) i have felt and seen movement from 7.5 weeks, more obvious though at 8 weeks
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 14.04.10 15:35 UTC
I didn't feel much movement if any, but I could hear heartbeats with my stethescope!

Hi I could feel my girls puppies moving from about 6.5 weeks onwards, however with her first litter I didnt feel any movements and she did not show any signs of whelping until one of her puppies arrived, this time tho she displayed all the documented signs she is a large breed dog.
- By annastasia [gb] Date 15.04.10 13:15 UTC
at about 7 weeks pregnant.
- By Ells-Bells [gb] Date 15.04.10 18:04 UTC
I usually feel movement around 7 weeks.  Today with 10 days to go I have actually seen movement.
- By LizandDogs [gb] Date 15.04.10 18:23 UTC
My girl has 14 days to go, she is very low though...  I wonder if they are all turned inwards?

> I wonder if they are all turned inwards?

Never heard the expression.  What does it mean?
- By white lilly [gb] Date 15.04.10 21:44 UTC
dont know if im right but i read it to be the pups have their legs inwards instead of being able to feel them kicking !!!

dont know if ive read it right tho :)

I think you may be a little early to feel anything - my girl seemed to 'hide' them when I put my hand on her belly.  Maybe in a day or two you will feel them.
- By LizandDogs [gb] Date 16.04.10 08:59 UTC
Yes thats what I meant, I also breed and show guinea pigs, and often babies can turn inwards so you don't feel movement until very late on
- By madogz77 Date 16.04.10 09:04 UTC
i also find they are more noticable after her meals or a big drink
- By cavlover Date 16.04.10 09:52 UTC
from 7-8 weeks.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 16.04.10 09:53 UTC
With a bitch at 7 1/2 weeks from mating who doesn't look pregnant, the only time I think she does show is after eating or drinking.

Had the studs owner on phone just now, and trying to let him down gently in case she isn't, and if she is that there may only be one or two.

I suppose time will tell.

So has anyone had a bitch not look pregnant at all to casual obserbation and still have more than one or two pups?
- By lucysmith [gb] Date 16.04.10 11:09 UTC
My bitch is 7 weeks today and i haven't felt any movement , vet reckons she has 11 large breed babies in there but i can't think where as she is hardly showing at all. She also shows a bit more after eating Brainless but apart from that the only indication i have is a change in nipples and some clear discharge , oh and eating for England!
Lucy.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 16.04.10 11:23 UTC
Well this is the first one I have ever had that didn't obviously show at this stage, so hope she hasn't absorbed them.
- By Ells-Bells [gb] Date 16.04.10 11:31 UTC
When I bought my Mollie 14 years ago, her breeder said she wasn't sure she was in whelp until they actually appeared - she had 11!!  I find it hard to believe that a bitch with 11 pups doesn't show at all, be hungrier and not slow down in her activities towards the end.  She wasn't an experienced breeder - all pups survived and mum did a really fine job.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 16.04.10 15:49 UTC
Well she is definately looking after herself and eating a bit more, but started leavign a bi9t over last few days,a dn ahppily eating it a bit later.

When she stands on her hind legs her tummy is tight and a bit rounded, so hoping it isn't just wishful thinking on my part.
- By Romside [gb] Date 16.04.10 15:54 UTC
PLEASE DONT STING ME OK

but we do it with our mares (horses) take away water for a few hours when is best for dog lying down or something and give her an ice cold drink,if anything in there pups should move!

now this always works with a mare in foal but im not sure if its something you can do or would do with a bitch.just a suggestion.x

My first indication this time round was when Mia was jumping up against my hubby around 3 weeks.  I gently stroked her tummy with both hands and could feel it slightly larger and firmer than I would have expected.  She was scanned at vets at 4 weeks and confirmed although they would give no indication of numbers.  Now, with just over  a week to go, she's rather large.  She had 11 in her first litter and I didn't think she'd have anywhere near that amount this time, but now I'm not so sure, only time will tell.
How far gone is yours?
- By LizandDogs [gb] Date 16.04.10 19:51 UTC
My bitch started leaving bits a few days ago, and has now started turning her nose up at lamost everything.... she did eat half a pack of mince when she thought I wasn't looking though

> How far gone is yours?

- By white lilly [gb] Date 16.04.10 21:49 UTC
well not long to be waiting brainless :) good luck!
- By JeanSW Date 16.04.10 23:31 UTC
This time around I haven't felt a thing!  My girl is 8 weeks tomorrow, and she is definitely pregnant, I just haven't felt anything moving!

She is broad in the beam, and I don't doubt that she has taken, but surprised that I haven't actually seen her belly move yet.
- By Ells-Bells [gb] Date 17.04.10 06:37 UTC
Looks like we've both got pups due on same day!  Hope you get a definite indication soon, I can feel and see lots of movement now.
- By Ells-Bells [gb] Date 27.04.10 07:58 UTC
Any updates on whether she is in whelp or not?
- By white lilly [gb] Date 27.04.10 08:34 UTC
im sure ive read on here about some pups from jean? x
- By Ells-Bells [gb] Date 27.04.10 10:41 UTC
Sorry - I replied to Brainless - should have specified in post.
- By barneyfoz [gb] Date 27.04.10 11:45 UTC
my girl had no movement of pups at all. my first thought was she had reabsorbed. Was scanned at 6, hardly put any weight on and had 3 healthly pups on day 59.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 27.04.10 17:04 UTC
Well Myka's was due yesterday to first mating, so still watching, but pretty sure she isn't.

Her Mum due in 9 days has much more developed undercarriage and an a big bump to go with.
