I'm hoping someone on here has better computer skills than myself and can help with my problem.
I share a hotmail account with my husband and a few weeks ago someone has gotten into the account and started to send our contact list lots of emails advertising various things like shoe shops etc, etc.
His work contacts are now becoming fed up with them , I have tried to contact hotmail but can't find a way to , all I can find is an email address which states they will not contact anyone back as the address is for feedback use only.
Please any advice will be greatly appreciated .

p.s we had thought about changing accounts but we don't want to lose our hotmail account as hubby has a lot of work contacts that use this address .

It's happened to a lot of Hotmail addresses, I've had e-mails from people here on Champdogs, when I look at the content it's advertising different types of drugs etc. with links to websites.

This has been happening to me also.

I had this with my hotmail account, and it turned out I had a bug on my pc. Do a full security scan and see if anything crops up. But I did also change my password and remove my contacts.

I had this happen to me on hotmail also. I kept a copy of my email contacts and then deleted them all off of hotmail. Now nobody can bombard my friends with junk via hotmail as the contacts list is no longer on there.

Not just Hotmail but Yahoo as well. It is being done at source, not on your computer, luckily - I only use webmail so nothing is stored on mine, so that tends to indicate that the only way they could have got the contacts list would have been to hack Yahoo.
I deleted my contacts list, and changed my password. So far, so good!

Yes I have had numerous e-mails the last few days from someone who is in dogs and they have a yahoo account also.

This happens on our work email addresses all the time.

I have virus protection but because I work in recruitment I can't have junk / spam filters in case it filters any emails out from candidates etc and I'm always getting emails from colleagues advertising the rudest of things and they get them from me also! Some of them even have pretty graphic pictures (cringe...)

Try deleting your contacts but keeping them saved in word or something and just copying and pasting them in when you send an email. A bit time consuming but will be worth it if it stops happening.
