On the dog world site I was horrified to see that the commercial dog breeders group in Ireland are fighting extra controls and feel that as their business brings in 300 million Euro a year they should be supported not targeted.

Rather than continually bashing show breeders and the kennel club I really think it is time to find out where the bast majority of puppies were bred/come from, as I can bet that KC registered (especially from show or working breeders) account for only a small percentage, yet we are accused of being the cause of all ills in pedigree dogs!!!!

I really would support moves to make it a legal requirement that every puppy sold or given away had to be permanently identified to it's breeder.

even better id like a law that said any puppy or adult dog atall, had to go back to the breeder if not wanted!! that would slow them up a bit LOL

I have always said this.  To be fair there are legitimate times when the breeder cannot take back or make provision for a dog they have bred due to their own circumstances which may have changed drastically for the worse, but this would generally only be with dogs coming back in senior years.

Perhaps it could be any breeder actively breeding had to take back any dogs they had bred.

Only slight risk is it could give the real farmers free breeding stock it the dogs coming back were still entire.

Breders also die or emigrate.
