hi everyone
i have noticed some little sores around my girls vulva. she is on day 12 from last mating and is fine in herself. i have noticed she's licking herself but she's a clean dog anyway so this is quite normal for her. we are booked in to the vets on thursday but was wondering if any one else has had this with their bitches before? i'm thinking its some kind of infection picked up during mating, am i right? any help please, as i'm a little worried now. this was her first time mating with a proven stud, she is a three year old small breed. thanks scarlet

I had it after a bitch had reared a litter, and was worried, as she looked red raw.

The vet said that she had been over fastidious in her cleaning, and gave me two options.  Sudacrem, or a nappy rash ointment, can't remember the name, but could look it out for you if interested.  Began with an M.  It worked wonders, and no ill effects from the bitch ingesting any.

yes when the last girl here han pups she had a very bad sore i used sudacrem ,mum was fine and pups didnt bother with it :)

hi just wondering SharonM   (as sores around the vulva may also be a sign of canine herpes),   she had the CHV1 vaccine last week so if it is this will that vac sort it out? will try sudacrem today as i have that at home. thanks for all the help its always something isint it lol.
