Hi  , my large breed bitch is now just over 6 weeks pregnant and i have noticed that although she is rather big up by her ribs she is still quite tucked in at the sides , her belly underneath is bigger and hanging down slightly. We were told by the vet when he scanned her that she had 11 babies in there but i just can't see where they could be , i am starting to get worried that she has reabsorbed some of them. Is this still possible at this stage as she only seems to have changed shape in the last few days.

Any thoughts gratefully received.

Last time I had a large breed litter the scan showed one or two pups only but by 7 weeks of pregnancy we were convinced she MAY have as many as four pups as that is what she looked like. She gave birth to ten, so her size at 7 weeks was no indication whatsoever -nor was the scan. :)

Well I have a bitch who was palpated and at least two beads felt, and is 7 weeks today and doesn't look pregnant, except maybe very slightly when very relaxed.  She is a large roomy girl.

I wish I could remember when she started showing with her first litter, as I only have a  photo of her about a day or two before whelping when she did have a big belly, she had 7 pups.

I am really wondering if we shall get anything.

Her Mum who was mated 10 days letter is showing slightly, but she never showed obviously (I could see it), until the last week or so with her two previous litters, and had 7 pups each time.

I suppose only time will tell, but I am dosing the one not looking it with Panacur and will start with the other on Thursday.

our girl is on day 40 so just coming up to week 6 ,she is starting to show ,scanner told us 4 maybe 5 but her belly is showing now and her sides are abit fuller ,im sure shes having more then 5 i think 7 lol only 3weeks to wait :( lol

My large breed gun dog bitch is 8 weeks on Friday and its only been this last week her belly has started to drop.  Her rib cage has been quite enlarged but now the pups are moving down, her rib cage is going down again now.  No idea how many are in there as our vet doesnt like to commit to numbers, so we'll just have to be patient and wait and see :)

At 6 weeks I wouldn't worry, as I have had pups move down from under the ribs very, very close to actual whelping.

I had my bitch scanned bank holiday weekend, and all of a sudden this belly has appeared! We've got just over 2 weeks left!

My bitch is on day 47 and if you looked at her from above you wouldnt think she was in pup. Her belly is very deep though!
