Well I was shocked by the shannanigins at our club match last night. When we arrived the place was totally packed, there were no seats.Over half the people there have certainly never attended any ringcraft classes that I've attended. One lady in particular was very very very rude. There were 5 seats free so I took my daughter to sit down.Taiko had already gained a rosette in his class.Approx 10 mins later a lady with too much jewellry/make up(grrr)came storming over.I smiled and said "Oh sorry,is this your seat?" (we had sat there for an entire class)"yes"she glared.I moved and she said "and these seats are taken too!"and put her keys/brushes etc on the remaining 4 seats. She then practically threw my coat at me.After my daughter and I had stood for 30mins the organiser squeezed in 2 more seats near the toilets for us.The seats near this woman were vacant all evening. Horrible woman's dog (not guilty by association:))made it into the final class for best in show. Her dog decided to go for the dog in front and all hell broke out, only one dog managed to stand still bless it and got the Best in show.Everyone was furious. She loudly blamed another dog and had a drama. The organizer strode over and told her that it was her fault, she had no control and that her dog did not deserve the rosette etc The judge had not seen her dog start the commotion.Truly, she was a horrible woman.
Is this common, this invasion of clubmatches or were we just unfortunate?
Julie still grrrrrrr :)

Taiko's rosette is a whole different tale, it was doomed to be one of those nights! :)
Julie
ps
Did you read the book yet?
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 07.12.02 15:27 UTC
Yes ....Hudson is having a bit of a shock at the moment :) Some of the simplest things ..like picking his food up after 15 minutes and waiting for him to stop geting all excited before we do things is having a good effect. Nothing about Anxiety Separation ..but little things to make a happier pooch (and happier owners ;) )

Funny how you get into Bad Habits without realising it ;) And Mals being Mals take a mile rather than an inch :D

I was quite surprised when I read it,she said some things that were quite obvious but had never occurred to me.Interesting ideas about behaviour as well. I think we're going to have to get serious with Taiko now too. How old should they be before you stop making allowances for puppy behaviour? You want them to enjoy their puppy experiences, but you also want them to mature into well behaved canines.(do you know any well behaved mals?:D)
Perhaps someone should start a malamute boot camp.
Julie :)

LOL Mal Boot camp ...I like it ;)

I don't think (personally) with Mals that you can ever *make allowances* ;) As I said ..we have found with Thuggy that if you give him an inch he takes a mile ..and that has been since we got him :D

I think with proper socialization they mostly grow into very mature dogs (pray to God!) but the wilful streak seems to be there forever :D From what Jacquie has told me about Blaze anyway :D ;)

Ooh Mel, Mals take a mile if you give them an inch? How about all the way to the moon and back!;)
I think Mal Boot Camp is a good idea, though I would more likely call it Mal Borstal. I will enrol my Juvenile delinquent as soon as one is set up! :D

Sounds like there are 3 contenders straight away then :)

Me thinks we should send the `Over made up jewelery
Jangler` to boot camp,it might teach her some manners!!!!

what breed did the bedecked person have
- By taffyparker [gb] Date 08.12.02 12:59 UTC
Well as I said the dog is not guilty by association. It looked like a dalmation with brown/liver spots.
Julie :)

Its a funny thing about club match shows. People seem to come out of the woodwork for them. There were people at ours last week that I had not seen for more than 12 months but you only have to mention the word 'show' to some people for them to come running. And even though its only a club match they take it VERY seriously. I think Mrs. Max Factor needs to get a life really.

Oh dear, I've been asked to judge my first match tonight (at very short notice!) - I hope she doesn't turn up there <vbg>

Now panicking that I'm going to make a mess of it!

You'll be fine. The judges always look so official and competent. I think you worry so much about your dogs behaviour, you don't have time to criticise the judge(well I don't :)) Good Luck :D
