Topic Other Boards / Foo / have you had your varicose veins done?
- By Wendy Wong Date 11.04.10 19:58 UTC
Have you had your varicose veins done and if so how did you get on? What method did you have and have they come back since? I was told that sometimes other veins varicose and might be worse than the ones you had done? is this right? Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks

I've heard that too.  The very thought of having anything done makes my stomach churn.  Thankfully now I am not spending all day on my feet standing my veins seem to have settled down and I don't get the aches and pains that I used to.  I keep active walking the dog and always take precautions when travelling.  They don't look too pretty - a road map my OH says.

my mum has had them done twice, she said (and it was a good 10 year ago)that they cut in the groin, and whip them out threw there, quite painful, but worth it

yep i had mine done about 7 years ago. No problem at all they made tiny tiny cuts in a few places on my legs and presumably whipped them out. I look like I had been trampled on by a horse for a while not much in the way of pain and had to do a fair bit of walking each day.
No reccurrance yet and the cuts are so tiny  only I can see them if the viens are troublseome I would recommed you have them done.

One more thing I originally saw an nhs doctor who used a doplar machine to check them, but through some nhs scheme I was offered a private alternative (no idea why) they mapped my veins  using a different type of scan so they knew what they my legs looked like in detail. The op was the same just a very nice private room and nice china for meals !
now piles thats a different question !!

yes, had it done twice both legs at same time and one leg the other time, both removed same as furrifriends, would recommend it to anyone a little bit of discomfort but worth it for the unsightly veins to dissapear and the pain gone.... having trouble with another vein eight years down the line ... going in.. in a fortnight to have another vein filled! the way they do it now is not to remove surgically but fill the vein causing the pain ..done under local anaesthetic. Will let you know how it goes.

My uncle (now deceased bless him) said piles was the most painful op he had ever had, and he had a few. He walked his dogs (three of them) twice a day for fifteen years down my woods and I walways siad he should end up there. When he died my aunt asked it she could plant his ashes there I agreed and we have a plot under the trees with a stone and me and my dogs will go with him one day.

I had some once after my second baby never again fybogel every day me...
