- By white lilly [gb] Date 08.04.10 18:13 UTC
has anyone had their hip scores back before 3weeks ? we did afew months ago ,we took our boy 3weeks ago and havnt heard anything yet, was just wondering if any eles has? thanks x
- By white lilly [gb] Date 08.04.10 18:22 UTC
also could i ring them to ask ? im sure theyve been scored by now!
- By Brainless [gb] Date 08.04.10 19:21 UTC
I have usually had to wait a month or two for results.

Inka's were back quickly (x-rayed end of January) and actually scored 10 days after the x-rays taken.

Her half sister in 2008 was scored 43 days after the x-ray was taken, and their Mum in 2005 took 46 days from x-ray to scoring.

You need to add on time after that for the vet to get them back and contact you/send them on.

Try looking on the KC website for health tests and mine were published on there before I had been notified and I came across them by accident!
- By white lilly [gb] Date 08.04.10 21:23 UTC
already done that today lol ,not there yet :( ,but thankyou sawheaties x
- By cornishmals [gb] Date 09.04.10 04:14 UTC
Mine took 1 day short of three weeks.(this was when the vet forwarded me the results so she had them back the week before)They were published on the K.C health check site at the end of the month - so this took about 5 weeks. My girl was x rayed at the end of February and I received them the Monday after Crufts.

I know someone who has one of my boys sons has just had his hipscore back with an excellent result too yesterday.  There's I think Sandra Webber who is at the BVA who is really helpful and so nice.  If you go on their website and send them an e-mail they will always reply.
- By white lilly [gb] Date 09.04.10 13:10 UTC
thanks for that i think i might email now :) x
- By white lilly [gb] Date 09.04.10 13:48 UTC

Have you looked on the KC site? They're often quicker on there than any other way.

I posted in March asking if anyone knew when the panel was meeting ... you replied saying you'd had yours back in 3 weeks & Kayc said the panel were meeting weekly at that time.  Mine were 18 days from x-ray being taken to being back at the vets!!  I was impressed!  They may have gone back to their normal meeting schedule now.

Hope you don't have too much longer.
- By white lilly [gb] Date 21.04.10 16:12 UTC
hi trialist ,sandra from the BVA told me thay have been scoreing hips every week for the last few years now :) but are sitting twice aweek because mine have been done today ,so im now hopeing there back at the vets for monday :)
- By Trialist Date 21.04.10 16:16 UTC
Ah ha, you snuck in whilst I was doing a quick edit!!  I got me dates wrong ... was quite determined to put up the exact days cos I was so chuffed with the short wait!!

I'll pass this info to my vet.  When I told them I'd been told the panel were meeting weekly, they said "oh no they don't they meet ....."  Fingers crossed, you'll hopefully get your results back before the weekend.

Calida's hipscores were on teh KC website the day after they were scored when she had them done last year, whether that was Sandra helping me and getting it put on quickly I don't know but was shocked how fast they were on there LOL
- By white lilly [gb] Date 21.04.10 17:06 UTC
thats very quick :) ...i really need to know for next week i have some one wanting to use him at stud ,she asked 6months ago and gone though his pedigree the lot!! shes now been in season for 3day , put she has got 1 more lined up if hip score dont come back or isnt good :(
- By Trialist Date 21.04.10 18:01 UTC
Positive mantra ... you will have results for weekend ... you will have results for weekend ... BVA and Royal Mail willing :-)  It is a bit bonkers in this day and age that you can't get results via e-mail, as in DNA tests.
- By white lilly [gb] Date 21.04.10 19:26 UTC
i know! ive wondered why results carnt be emailed? ,would make the waiting game such less time ,but you are right :) im sure i will get very good scores and by the weekend too ;)
- By ridgielover Date 21.04.10 19:42 UTC
White lilly - if the plates have already been scored, you can get your vets to phone up the BVA and they can find out the scores for you. Only the vets can do this - not us mere owners!
- By white lilly [gb] Date 21.04.10 19:50 UTC
even if i emailed them to ask wouldnt they tell me ? , but i will ring the vets tomorrow and ask them to ring them thankyou i didnt know that :) so i will know before the weekend :) x

Congrats!!!

I wonder how many 0:0 scores there are now?  And how many dogs with both parents 0:0, I only know of one Labrador.
- By Trialist Date 23.04.10 16:21 UTC Edited 23.04.10 16:23 UTC

- By white lilly [gb] Date 23.04.10 21:48 UTC

- By Ells-Bells [gb] Date 30.04.10 12:44 UTC
I have just been told that if your x-rays are taken digitally, the BVA have to send them off to be converted which takes a couple of weeks!!  So much for technology - you'd think it would speed things up wouldn't you?
- By white lilly [gb] Date 30.04.10 13:09 UTC
i agree ,but sometimes technology makes thing longer :(
- By dogsbody100 Date 30.04.10 13:28 UTC
The BVA does not accept digital images so Vets must have them converted to dry laser images or printed before submission for scoring. The discs have to be sent off for processing, sent back to the Vet who then sends them to the BVA. Guess who pays for all this? And of course it all takes more time.
