Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Crufts qualifying rosette problem
- By Dyllan [gb] Date 09.04.10 09:20 UTC
I was delighted when my pup qualified for 2011 and ordered a rosettes from Dalsetter asking for 2011, however they sent be a quliflier rosettes for 2010. I sent it back to have it replaced (at my cost) and they say they haven't recieved it. This was all done the week after Crufts.

I since qualified him twice more so am over the moon but I'd still love a rosette. Does anyone know of any other places to buy one?
Many thanks

Dalsetter are the official rosette people for Crufts, I wouldn't think they'd lie about not recieving it as they have always appeared to be nice people to me. Maybe it's been lost in the post?

Just so you are also aware, they sell official crufts car stickers saying you have qualified a dog for crufts :)

My concern over the Crufts qualifying car sticker is, the advertising that you have a potentially expensive dog in the car and stealing it could be worth your while to make a quick buck in ransom.
- By Gemma86 [gb] Date 09.04.10 11:10 UTC
But would you actually leave your dog(s) alone in a car?
Mine always come in the hotel with me when away and at shows I use a pack back & walk them in together (only show 2 dogs)
- By Dyllan [gb] Date 09.04.10 11:11 UTC
I don't for one minute expect they would lie and thet do seem nice, just disappointed that I have had no rosette.

I would certainly never leave a dog in a car these days. I MIGHT on occasion for a few minutes if I have 2 or 3 Malinois in the back -anybody trying to steal them would have a hard time!! and would probably be put off as soon as they tried opening the car as the dogs would go mad. But other than that, no, never leave the car with an animal in, ever. Thieves don't care if it's a 15 year old mongrel or a Crufts BOB winner, they can get a ransom for either.

It's a shame if it's been lost in the post, but if you trust them that they haven't received it, which I would with Dalsetter, presumably it's not too expensive just to buy another one? Bit of a pain I know when it's not your fault either, but still worth it to have the rosette perhaps?

Surely as a gesture they should send you out a new one? they were the ones who sent you the wrong one in the first place!

Yes - when queuing to pay for petrol the dogs will stay in the car on the garage forecourt.

you should be able to get a replacement rosette   at any Champ show coming up.
- By Dyllan [gb] Date 09.04.10 13:03 UTC
I guess I will have to buy another at a show, just if I do that this one rosette will have cost me around £25 which would pay for another dog show entry and seems a bit unfair to me. :-(

But you would lock the vehicle & most probably would be able to see from the garage, you wouldn't leave them alone for hours completely unsupervised.

And yes before you all start, i know car theives can target cars in petrol stations.
If some one is going to steal a dog I doubt it matter if it's crufts qualified or not, it's still worth something to the owner be it a BIS at Crufts winner or just a family pet. If some one stole my old girl, who's just a pet, I'd still pay as much in a ransom as I would for my winning show boy.

my thoughts too AlisonGold,

Evan if you dont leave your dog in the car, people could still follow you home and then know where you live.
Dog nappers would go to these lengths if they though money could be made.
- By Gemma86 [gb] Date 09.04.10 13:19 UTC
But newf3, if they saw a dog in your car they'd most probably have the same thoughts, maybe its just me, i live in a low crime place so probably dont fully know the dog napper situation too well. The only thing i know of thats happened here is a dog thrown down a cliff with its legs bound together, the owners never came forward so the police assumed it was drug related :( what did the poor dog do to deserve that!
- By AlisonGold [gb] Date 10.04.10 09:49 UTC
No Gemma, I don't leave my dogs in the car, even at open shows, I do not go in, get my catalogue and then go for the dogs, I would rather struggle than leave them in the car. However, my point is as newf said, they could follow you home and then could even be desperate enough to break into your house for the dogs, (it has been done). I would never advertise on my car that I have potentially well worth stealing dogs, hence I do not have Crufts qualified dog car stickers.
Have to also say, I live in an area where there is no dog crime (all fingers and toes crossed), and so therefore shouldn't have those concerns.

That really does make a very expensive rosette, hope you manage to sort something out.  With any luck the missing rosette will show up and then can be replaced.  I can't understand why the thought you'd want a rosette for qualifying for a show that's gone anyway
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 11.04.10 09:43 UTC
Don't know how much you paid to send it back but if you paid the wrong postage the Royal Mail have beenknow to keep such items for up to 3 months before returning to the person who posted it, I should know as that is what happened to one of my dogs x-rays for having her hips scored!

I also agree with Alisongold.

only you need to know your dog has 'qualified' I trust no-one especially where my dogs are concerned. If people I dont like the look of ask what breed my dogs are I tell them they are heinz 57 <G>

Dont know what to suggest regarding your rosette, I suppose if your really want it you will have to buy another at a show, at least it will be a little cheaper and you will have it to take home.

Good for Dalsetter, I thought they would come through and be nice!
