Just wondered if anyone watched the new Dr Who ( Matt Smith ) and what did you all think ?
Peanuts

I did and I really liked him not the same as DT but then he wouldn't be ;-) I thought from the snippets I had seen he would be good and I wasn't disappointed
I want to see a Dr in leathers for a change ;-) Why do we keep getting boring old same old same old for a doctor...... Ok, will give him time to settle in before I make my mind up. I think it's just a new face on an old body, so to speak. Not enough change.
I thought it and Matt Smith were okay. I think it always take a while for us to get to grips with a new Doctor. The writer/producer as changed too, which is an added extra for us to absorb.
To fill DT's shoes isn't an easy task!! I thought that Matt Smith was very good, he'll probably 'grow' on everyone!! :)

He mumbled so badly I missed a lot of his script, so I was very disappointed. All the others could speak well enough to be understood over the intrusive 'background' (ha ha) music, so it's a problem with his voice and not my hearing or TV! (Plus the poor man's not exactly easy on the eye, but that's not his fault!)
We enjoyed the programme but he doesn't feel like 'The Doctor' yet
I missed DT but it might be nice to have a less world weary Dr, once we've got used to him...
.

Well Jess (my 10 yo) was a huge DT fan - him being her first DR!
And I know she really didnt' want to have a new Dr at all so thought he was not going to win her over - but he did she did enjoy it and seemed to quite like the new boy - and is looking forward to the series.
She really wasn't keen on a change and wanted to marry David Tennant if I'm honest lol - but think Matt Smith may just have won her over :)

I was pleasantly surprised by him, although he is reminiscent of one of the past doctors in clothing & actions, will have to look up which one he reminds me of. Definitely one of the old old doctors :-O

Same here Rachelsetters, I wanted to marry DT and wasn't keen on a new Doctor :-D, but I did enjoy last night's episode.
was prepared to not like it,but was surprised,i did! mind you,i didnt want christopher eccleston to leave, yetlook how brill tennant was,so i shouldnt have been surprised to quite like the new guy.Just love dr who!
Well, surprise, surprise, I think I'm going to like him, I thought he was going to be a moody, dark doctor, which he absolutley isn't. Thank you! :-)
I loved DT, loved his humour and kookiness and sexiness, that was there too, but Matt Smith makes DT look serious. :-D He's really out there isn't he? He is very strange, I think strange is the word but he seems to have little bits of DT in him so it kind of feels ok. Amy is going to be good. I think the tardis is over blinged though, guess I'll get used to it.
The whole show feels younger though, not sure what the older hardened fans will think of it now. However, I love the fun side of the new DR but hopefully he will have many dimensions to him, if so he will be a hit, looking forward to the next one, so guess that's a good sign, must be getting hooked.
All in all a good come back. :-)

Have caught up with it at last and he was OK - I was afraid that he wasn't going to appeal to adults - but I will watch it next week. The special effects were a bit iffy - the eye in the sky space ship was a bit cartoony and the monster thingy was a bit like one of those plastic hoses from a tumble dryer with goo on it. My favourite monster was that spider/ arachnid - that was brilliant. Will miss David Tennant but I think we had too much of him over Christmas.

I just really enjoy Dr Who and have watched since Jon Pertwee (dates me!). My favourite was Christopher Eccleston, but I still enjoyed DT and now, having seen previews of new episodes, look forward to watching this series. It's a great show that the whole family can watch so I wish Matt luck; he's sure to be a huge star.

You are a mere child, I remember the first episode with William Hartnell ;-)
me too!well, couldnt re enact it,but i rememder being annoyed at not being allowed to watch it once,as a kid, because a visiting child was scared of the show, and"shes a guest!"!gnash!most unjust in my opinion!been hooked on it ever since!

I used to watch it from behind a cushion :-)

I'm waiting to see how Matt Smith settles in but I think he'll do. Liked his new assistant. I didn't really notice the transition from Russell Davies to the new guy (can't recall the name) but I guess it'll take a while for both of them to get into their stride. I can't avoid watching it 'cos the OH adores Dr Who and has even watched the crappy ones from the eighties. We mustn't forget that it's traditional to have crappy SFX on Dr Who so there must be a least one per episode.
I used to hide behind the sofa when I was little - William Hartnel was my first Dr. Jon Pertwee and Christopher Eccleston are my favs. I also wish the Dr could be a tad more inventive in the wardrobe dept - leathers would be nice and perhaps a space bike to go with them :-)
