I have just taken on a 7 month old jack russell x from a family member that had it's primary vaccinations as a new puppy but they don't have/can't find! it's vaccination card to prove this. If I ring their vets a) will they give me information about the dog even though I'm not on record as it's owner? If I can't will it be a case of the poor girl having to have both jabs again? Thank you.
Even if they can't find the card they should be able to tell you which vet they went to. The vet may be able to confirm the vaccinations if you identify yourself as the new owner or take the previous owner to the vets with you.
Hi,if you know the vet and are able to provide the correct details the vet should be able to give you a new certificate free of charge. If the current owner can phone the vet as well to confirm you are the new owner you should not have any probs.
When I had one of my pups back, the then owners couldn't find the vaccination card, so I called their vet and he sent me a copy of it, obviously couldn't add the stickers from the vaccine but did write down what she had had and signed the card for me.
