Have been doing a bit of research on various foods and was wondering if any of you know of any pet food manufacturers in the UK that produce cold pressed complete diets rather than those that use the extrusion method? I've come across a few outside the UK (Lukullus, Markus-Mühle, and Farmfoods), but would be interested in any UK-based companies.

I just wondered if there are any foods, made using the cold-pressed method, that are actually MADE in the UK. I know these products (Markus-Mühle etc) are available at zooplus but are there any UK companies that have the same facilities or make something similar rather than using the usual extruding method?
Don't really know what cold pressed is, have friends in Denmark who feed air dried food, it's raw food that's been dried not cooked, a bit like jerky.
Called Ziwi Peak.

From what I can make out the use of a low temperature (below 75ºC) during production prevents the ingredients from damage or nutrient loss due to excess heating (extruded food is cooked at over 100ºC). Also the way it digests is different. Have a look at
http://www.farmfood.co.uk/dogfood/premium-quality/natural-holistic/why-pressed-pellets.html which shows a comparison between extruded and cold-pressed foods when soaked in warm water/vinegar.
I'll have a look at Ziwi Peak, sounds interesting.

There is 1 called best for my dog but this is made in Germany, its a dry food, believe its very good but i have only tried a sample of it.

The only Best for my Dog I can find is this (
http://www.bestformydog.com), which is in Ireland. Is this the one you are referring too?
Where did you get your sample from?

Yes, it is

Having been in contact with the manufacturers of Ziwi Peak, I've been told it will be available in the UK at the end of the month - sounds very impressive, but I hate to think what the cost is likely to be - we shall see!
why is brewers yeast bad?i thought it was a useful supplement?

Side effects of brewer's yeast for dogs may include bloating, gas and indigestion.
Considerations
Bloating is a serious health concern for dogs. Bloating and torsion of the stomach or intestines can lead to death in as little as 6 hours.
its also thought that brewers yeast may help rid your dog of fleas but now vets are recommending that you simply rub brewers yeast into the dogs coat. sincee i own a deep chested dog (akita) which are prone to bloat i wouldnt feed a food containing brewers yeast

Because it's air-dried I wonder if it weighs less than a conventional kibble?
