Hi  my bitch whelped 8 days ago  she has fed all 5 puppies very well all putting on weight but she is a toy breed and has lost a lot of weight and is very tired and has no energy she gets up to eat and drink l have to pick her up to go outside as she wont move as before even 2 days ago she was running around while puppies slepft now she just lays there it is almost like depression.  we are feeding her a popular brand from the vets and putting etc meat in it should l be doing anything else to help her 

I'd have the vet check her ASAP. Even severe weight loss after pups (and I've had a couple of bitches like that, losing almost 50 % of their body weight in fact -it was scary) should not cause those symptoms.

She could have an underlying infection which will require urgent veterinary attention. Have you checked her temperature ?

Have you been giving her calcium my girl also toy breed was being a bit funny with eating so i made sure she got plently of calcium she wouldn't drink lactol which i would normally give she now is eating cheese in the morning and night and a diary lee triangle in the afternoon

I would also bring her too the vets too!

Has the vet been to check her since she whelped, to make sure she doesn't have a retained afterbirth or anything? What's her temperature?

Yes get her to your vet asap, hope she is ok soon

Hi sorry computer has been down for 3 days bitch is doing well she has started eating again l took her for a walk the day l first posted and after she seemed to pick up it was almost like she was a bit down in the dumps because she had not been for a walk pups putting on weight and just opened eyes at 12 days still crawling bitch gets quite tired and seems to be doing a good job thanks for all your advice
