my dog is 9years and lost all his size we had im in at the vets thay did lots of tests and cume up with no resuls why so we think it could be his food could any one give me any idea whats good food to get him thanks martin flemming

Everyone will have different ideas on what is the "best" food.

Perhaps other Rottie owners would be best to advise, but I'd certainly go with one with meat as it's main ingredient.

What are you currently feeding? Avoid those foods with grain as the first ingredient and those with artificial colours, flavours, preservatives etc.

Have you changed his food recently? 

If not, and he's been on one food for many years it seems strange that he is suddenly losing weight - how quickly has the weight loss happened?

What food do you currently have him on?

he as been on the same dry food for years he lost  3half pond in 10 days then the vit had him in for test in 4days he put 4pond back on the vet keeps hitting me will bills so far up to £800 and still nothink he as had scan and xray  liver and blood test all come back ok i get all his food from t.p.m.s co.uk in redditch

It's very hard to see why a food that has previously suited your dog has now caused such extreme weightloss.  I'm so sorry you've not got a more scientific answer from your vet

It may be worth contacting the food supplier/manufacturer to see if they have altered any ingredients recently but other than that, I don't know what to suggest.

Maybe you could ask Admin to alter the title of this thread to "Why is my dog losing weight?" and move it to the Health forum - you might get a few more responses in that section.

Without seeing him it is difficult but has he lost 'weight' or has he lost muscle. I know one of my boy doesn't have the best mobility now so doesn't do alot and just toddles round but the result of this is that he has lost lots of his muscle resulting in him looking like he has lost weight. Older dogs sometimes lose muscle over the top of their back. Like I say though that is just one idea as  without seeing him it is hard.

ETA sorry had missed that you had had hm at the vets so if he had just lost muscle tone they would have picked up on that!
