Has anybody else had a frog infestation over the last week? Our Dobe pup ate her first frog yesterday whilst we were out, she was off her lead and i turned around to see foam literally pouring from her mouth. I had a mini heart attack and thought she was dying before the other half pulled a little frog out of her mouth, she then went on to drink about a gallon of water out of the nearby horses trough so i dont think she thought much of the taste!!! I dont think she'll be eating another in a hurry.

Got a pond in the garden, just had a look and counted about 20+ so that will be at least 30+ allowing for ones I can't see - all busy mating
They usually appear once the weather starts to - was going to say warm up but I shall rephrase that to -get not so cold!

The field I use to exercise my three in a morning has been over run for about a week. I bet there were 50 frogs the other day, all humping lol. Some even in threes.
My spaniel has a sniff and that's about it, the other two don't bother.
I'm more concerned about treading on them myself, rather than the dogs eating them.

This morning there was only a few though so maybe their moving on.

We have a fair few frogs and frog spawn in our pond at the moment...i do like seeing the frogs :) luckily our lot aren't interested in them.

My garden sounds like a building site in the evenings. Luckily dogs cant get to the pond although im sure I will find a few victims. I can still remember when my 3yr old was a pup. She tried chasing a frog that landed on a lilly pad and fell head first in. I pulled her out straight away, washed and dried her when I could stop laughing long enough. She never has been a big fan of water since then, cant figure out why? :-P

If your dog does get one try to determine if it is a frog versus toad.... Frogs shouldn't do any harm, but toads have chemicals in their skin which will make dogs quite ill (and people too given enough exposure and yes some people have been known to do that on purpose as it causes hallucinations.). Racking brain but I think the toad chemical is Bufotenin and is toxic to dogs, making them foam at the mouth.... and probably see purple monkeys bouncing off the ceiling.

Anyways - frogs are the smooth greeny ones and toads are the larger, darker rough bobbly ones. Oh, and neither actually go "ribbit" in this country, that's a vile rumour circulated by american frogs who are jealous of our culture and legal-high toads.

Ahh well it may have been a little toad in that case because her mouth was literally pouring with foam. I hope she doesn't get addicted to the high and need a daily fix of toad. I'll have to enroll her in toads anonnymous. 

Takes me back my oh and I had a romantic walk one night during mating seasons there were hundreds of the things humping all over the road. Needless to say it wasnt romantic trying not to stand on the things, my sons caught a bucket full and asked my why they were all "stuck together"  queue birds and bees talk!!
