Do you get White Rowan trees?
A friend of mine wants one for planting beside a private grave on there own ground.

Have a read at this site Fiona http://www.treesforlife.org.uk/tfl.rowan.html
I know that the bark on the ones in my parents garden looked white.

yes, there are gorgeous Chinese rowans that bear beautiful white berries or white flushed with pink.It depends where your friend is, but there is a fantastic arboretum at Howick in Northumberland that specialises in trees from the Far East and for its size has to be one of the best in Europe. I've just checked their website and they have lovely photo of a white rowan on their website http://www.howickhallgardens.org/thearboretum.php  :-)

Another fabulous place to go is the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens in Hampshire--and if your friend is in the 'middle' of the country, there isn't much in the world that can beat Westonbirt, the National Arboretum at Tetbury. HHG and Westonbirt have truly excellent nurseries that sell out to the public...and Howick donates plants for a church sale each year--worth the travel any day.

Sorry to be a tree bore, it doesn't take muc to get me going :0.

I agree that Westonbirt is out of this world.  When I went it actually took me a whole day looking round the trees, there are so many.

It was a spectacular experience, and I couldn't believe how long I'd been walking round.  You just get lost in the beauty of it all.

Hi JeanSW, Westonbirt in full October fire is enough to make me cry--and I have a few acers raised from seed when I've done my "tree rat" rounds. Part of my criteria for moving house in the next year or two is to be not ore than 90 minutes drive from Westonbirt. At the moment it's more like 4 hours. I want to be able to share it with my dogs. Good to have dreams!!!
