Hi all im posting this for a friend that has a bichon he is 13 weeks now he is on james well beloved dry which he was reared on from the breeder but he has the most runny of poos all of a sudden which seems he is not agreeing to me with this type of food. but im not sure on what to suggest to her or if there could be anything else making him do this (like new home) they have had him for just over a week from a reptuable breeder and he was fine up until a few days ago .
Is there any food any one can suggust they feed their little dogs im not very experienced on small dogs only do the larger ones so didnt want to suggust something.

The vet is the best person to ask. Diarrhoea in a young puppy can be very serious because they can dehydrate so quickly.
Thankyou on quick reply yes when she told me about him at work today i suggested she do that tonight with him asap will see what outcome was tomorrow.
had the same problem with mine put him on cooked chicken with rice then added veg, 2nd meal was scrambled egg with a bit of water instead of milk with rice worked great then tried james well and that was no good for him now hes on royal c one meal and dog mince (chicken or tripe) from p at home then i add some rice and veg, poos nice and firm hope this helps

If he has been on this food from the breeder with no problems ( I'm sure the breeder would not have continued with a food that was upsetting him ) then perhaps there is another reason. 1 week may be a little early to blame and change the food if he has eaten this for several weeks . I agree a trip to the vets is best, although it may just be the stress of a new home and different routine. Perhaps better to find the reason and not distress him any more by changing food just yet, or possibly have a word with the breeder.
Once they've seen the vet to rule out a medical problem - as someone else has already said diarrhoea can be serious - they could look at volumes of food...
I found I was regularly adjusting my pups food and if I ever increased it by too much too soon his motions would be loose. Do suggest they check quantities and meal timings with the breeder but over feeding might be the problem. Ask them how often they are feeding him too, could they have dropped a meal too soon? 4 small meals a day will suit him better than 3 larger ones
Hi Guys
Thanks for all the helpful advice my friend took him to the vet which ruled out anything medical thank god, but she did tell me he was getting 3 meals a day so i told her to give him 4 so spreads it out better for his little stomach and this seems o have been working fine so lets hope this continues.
Thanks for all the advice great help again

Ah hope he is ok soon, a new home often upsets a puppys delicate tummy, through stress, change of water etc, if vet ruled out no illness, he should be on the mend soon.
