I have just met my first ddb in the "fur " so to speak.  He was georgeous a big softie and so beautiful. This one had been a rescue but was homed very early on.
He has grown in to a beautiful calm boy now, apparently is vice when young was too bouncy.
Maybe I should add him to my wish list (hehe) 2 lovely ones on many tears site looking for homes oh dear there I go agin in fantasy land !

Dogue de Bordeauxs are one of my two breeds. I can honestly say I will always have them , there is something addictive about the breed. Seen the 3 Dogues on Many Tears a few days ago and I've been checking everyday hoping they'll be rehomed. The poor boy has a lump on his neck and I'm constantly wondering what his results are. I wish they would update it but I know how busy they are!

Cannot look at these sites anymore - would like to offer them all a home, but am unable to do so, hate seeing their lovely eyes looking out at me.   Don't dare bring anymore unwanted animals home, at the moment we have a cat that was dumped, he has been here now a number of years.   I am the only one that he trusts and I can actually stroke him, give him his worm tablets etc., but he will never allow anyone else to come near him.  Whether he was originally injured I do not know, as his body is slightly twisted.   But cannot catch him so the CPL came out to see if they could, so that we could get him neutered, the first cage they left out he completely destroyed, second time it was a success and they had him neutered and then asked if we would keep him!!   What does one say, he has been here ever since.

incidentally if the ddb is french why is the first part of the breed name not dog in french ie chien does dogue mena something different

If I am not mistaken then Dogue means Mastiff, hence French Mastiff.

You are indeed correct Dogue in French translates to Mastiff :-D

Oh I have just looked on Many Tears as hadn't been on before and am now sat feeling very sad. I want to take all the old boys and girls and let them have a happy rest of their lives.:-(

hi, i have Diesel a 10 month old DDB.
he stole my heart the first day i seen him at 6 weeks, and has been doing it every day since with his silly, goofy, lovely, slobbery ways :-)

1 DDB is not enough, already saving up for another to join the mad house :-)

Sorry to ask but what is tears?
- By Goldiemad [gb] Date 12.03.10 19:34 UTC
Many Tears is a rescue that does a wonderful job with ex breeding stock, that are no longer wanted by puppy farms, etc. They do have other rescues, including dogs that come over from Irish pounds.

I have just been on the many tears website and as the name states i really was nearly in tears its so sad to see so many dogs needing homes, and so many dogs just being used to breed and then get given away and some of the dogs that are in pounds that were minutes from being put to sleep that they have rescued, i think theyre doing an excellent job to provide them with a place to stay until they get a home.
