Im intrigued as to whether im the only person who thought this was utter rubbish?
Virtirtually nil breed judging
....that awful friend for life which seems to have nothing to do with the dog atall
........fly (yawn) ball where the skill has now been eradicated further with the new box where no mid air catching takes place.
Abysmal scott chap making inane comments and talking drivel. Couldnt believe anyone could do a worse job than the Beeb but apparently more four can!!! :(
- By Daisy [gb] Date 11.03.10 20:42 UTC
Totally agree :)

- By joelol [gb] Date 11.03.10 20:47 UTC
Me too, about 10 mins worth of interest if your lucky
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 11.03.10 20:49 UTC
Well I'll be different as I quite liked it, though saying that I had it on mute as someone phoned me in the middle of it, so maybe watching it without any sound was better LOL
- By Lily Mc [gb] Date 11.03.10 20:49 UTC
Couldn't agree more ... dreadful coverage.

- By Gemini05 Date 11.03.10 20:52 UTC
Totally agree, i have been looking forward to see the show tonight, and just felt everything was rushed along :( half the time there was no info on the dog, where he came from, breeder, age nothing :( and the flyball, well ,,,, I have been watching online today and again bit disappointed at the way displays had been rushed and all squashed into one arena not really showing us what the dogs can do :( :(
- By MsTemeraire Date 11.03.10 20:53 UTC
Not impressed here either, but was glued to the live streaming all day - fabulous and free! And proper live Group judging too, not the abbreviated version. I guess they might be angling for people to pay £9.99 for the catch-up online?
Or have we forgotten that we always moaned at the BBC for the same reasons?
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 11.03.10 21:04 UTC
I agree too. Very disappointing.
- By Karen R [gb] Date 11.03.10 21:16 UTC
Yes, awful even worse than the BBC!
- By nesstaffy [gb] Date 11.03.10 21:18 UTC
totally agree they didnt really show anything like the breed judging and cant find anything on the web page
- By henrieke [gb] Date 11.03.10 21:20 UTC
Loved the live streaming though!
- By Lexy [gb] Date 11.03.10 21:42 UTC
Well I did think when I watched on my pc last year the coverage was good, more what the dog show person likes. So when I installed my digi box 2 days ago I was eagerly waiting & I must say was also disappointed.
I know that the makers have to make it Joe public friendly but it wasn't nearly half as good as the coverage last year.
- By ClaireyS Date 11.03.10 22:26 UTC
Does anyone know if it is repeated ? I forgot to sky+ it :(
- By Romside [gb] Date 11.03.10 22:27 UTC
ahhh im glad its not just me then,i watched online allllll day im not kidding two children either side of me with chicken pox lol watching the dogs.kept them interested but seemed nothing like what i was expecting.and im all new very new so i just thought that was the norm.

i wanted to see puppies being judged juniors ect but it was all fly ball nd agility.great but not what i thought it would be.
and I also cant seem to find anything on the website about the judging.
maybe i should go on saturday then cos if its like todays viewing all four days i wont be watching until night time :-(
- By LoisLane Date 11.03.10 22:59 UTC
Will be able to see it on monday along with all the other shows.

I thought it was very poor, i doubt i will tune in over the next few nights.

I liked it when it was on the BBC - getting to know the best in show judge, what they breed and their life story, was my best bit.
- By MsTemeraire Date 11.03.10 23:13 UTC

> I liked it when it was on the BBC - getting to know the best in show judge, what they breed and their life story, was my best bit.

They did all that on the live streaming - you were told everything about all the dogs that were in the Group: owners, dog's home name, any history, bits about the breed etc.

On TV you got a kind of (almost rudely) edited version which cut straight to the results.

Big Tip: if you want to see the Group judging properly - watch it online every evening from 6pm.
I also think it's criminal not to be able to see Richard Curtis's winning HTM freestyle routine on tap - seldom have I ever been so entertained! It was stunning. I could watch that over & over.
- By chelzeagirl [gb] Date 11.03.10 23:39 UTC
I wish they'd have shown more of the dogs in the ring, i cant get the live streaming but i'd have liked to have seen more of the dogs and less of the chat,
- By MADDOG [gb] Date 12.03.10 07:19 UTC
Well I'll be different as I quite liked it, though saying that I had it on mute as someone phoned me in the middle of it, so maybe watching it without any sound was better LOL

oh you should have had the sound on perrodeagua, the vet Mark, stated that the Obama's had a SWD instead of a Portuguese.  Even my DH picked up on that!  He also went on to say microchipping is a must as it's a passport for the dog (don't think he meant to say either of those things bit of nerves).

As for the other drip, where did they drag him out from ???!

However, I saw less than a second of a dog I bred doing a display, fortunately I have a pause function :-D
- By dexter [gb] Date 12.03.10 09:08 UTC
Well i didn't think it was great, it looked a bit tacky to me.
Not any of around the rings coverage, and the group judging was cut short...
- By Cava14Una Date 12.03.10 09:57 UTC
It would be great to see more of the breed classes but can you imagine the number of cameras they would need! They do the activities as they are all in one place so easy to cover.
- By Lollie [gb] Date 12.03.10 10:29 UTC
I couldn't agree more - total disappointment.
Will try the live streaming later.
- By Cava14Una Date 12.03.10 10:54 UTC
I'm loving livestream. Set up at computer following obedience via obedience UK  watching main arena, checking for breed results and texting friend who is there. Not getting anything else done but who cares:-D
- By Sue H Date 12.03.10 11:02 UTC
What's the link for livestream?

Thanks!
- By flattiemum [gb] Date 12.03.10 15:34 UTC
Dogs enjoyed it that's about all I can say!
Will be watching gundog group on-line, hopefully the final will be shown in full.
- By tina s [gb] Date 12.03.10 20:17 UTC
utter rubbish- very boring too and cant get the streaming catch up without paying!
- By goldie [gb] Date 12.03.10 21:14 UTC
Very disappointed,to much chat and not enough of the dogs.
- By MsTemeraire Date 12.03.10 21:45 UTC
and pleeeease can they get rid of Peter Purves commentating on the sports... he is worse than useless and often insulting! During ABC agility today he kept on & on how Kelpies shouldn't be in ABC (Anything But Collie) really, cos they are "so much like BCollies"  (!!) yet said nothing re the Bearded collie in the same class?

And at one point told everyone watching that a Groenendael is a black variety of German shepherd.

He's internationally embarrassing.... I switched off and went out, couldn't bear it.
- By suejaw Date 12.03.10 21:51 UTC
As i'm not exhibiting this year i've somehow lost interest in it, so not watched anything on TV or the Net..
Kept an eye out for placings on Fosse for my breed naturally and also friends breeds, with some pleasing results
- By emma5673 [gb] Date 12.03.10 22:10 UTC
can anyone tell me when they are showing it please during the next two days
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 12.03.10 22:32 UTC

>Very disappointed,to much chat and not enough of the dogs.

Today the weather (?) meant that there was no freeview signal.
- By rachelsetters Date 13.03.10 06:29 UTC
Its live streaming on the internet http://www.dfscrufts.tv

or More4 - 7.30=8.30pm (ch 138 on sky)
- By Brainless [gb] Date 13.03.10 09:53 UTC
Hey just found http://www.dfscrufts.tv/Video/VideoItem.aspx/599_Norweigan_Elkhound_Judging there's a bit of me (yuk) with Inka ringside on the day two video, We are in the first shot (horrible angle that close and from above) and then again between the judges deliberations there's a nice head shot with her giving a woof, blue lead.
- By tina s [gb] Date 13.03.10 16:49 UTC
any idea what time the groups are on the live stream today? i dont want to miss it and the telly coverage as said before is crap
- By MsTemeraire Date 13.03.10 17:10 UTC
Going by the last few days, they'll start around 6-6.30pm.
- By tina s [gb] Date 13.03.10 17:17 UTC
thanx
- By Yabbadoo Date 13.03.10 17:50 UTC
I don't think the coverage was as good as it has been in previous years but the venue itself was fantastic!! :-)
- By breehant Date 13.03.10 18:52 UTC
Hey just watched Barbara,

You still look good that close up ;0))) although not as good as Inka, thought she looked beautiful as ever.
- By Lea Date 13.03.10 19:46 UTC
I cant watch it on more 4 as 'no satalite signal' :( :( (

- By molezak [gb] Date 14.03.10 15:28 UTC
Totally agree Sam, awful load of dumbed down rubbish.. really disappointing but the ridiculous footage portrayed a lot of truth.  I've been going for 20 years and it was the first time I thought that this is not a dog show anymore :o(  Just glad other champ shows aren't like the 'new' Crufts.
- By hairyloon [gb] Date 15.03.10 11:11 UTC
I haven't been hugely impressed with the More4 coverage - too much talking and not enough dogs!!

However, looking at the coverage as 'joe public' and knowing next to nothing about showing myself, I did think that at least they made some good points during some of the chat sections that I saw - for example, the vet talking about training a dog with rewards and kindness to get it to recall, the Battersea rescue talking about how staffies can make good pets in the right hands, and how they briefly talked about puppy farming and the need for some way of tracing dogs back to the breeder.

OK, all things that we on here take for granted, but to someone who knows only a little about the 'dog world' at least some of the points they put across were reasonably sensible.

As for the in depth coverage, yes they could have shown a lot more content, but bearing in mind the programme is aimed at the masses, who might only want a 'light' version of the show. I feel the same when I watch drag racing on TV, to someone outside the sport it probably looks like a great programme, really exciting with loads going on, but for me being heavily involved in the sport, I can see just how much they've missed in the programme, and how obvious it is that the commentator doesn't know much.
- By minimom [gb] Date 15.03.10 12:44 UTC
Actually thought the whole DFS thing turned Crufts into a Joke.  If  people have never been to Crufts, no way would this programme encourage them to go another time, Thought the presenters treated it like a joke as well, and the little scottish chap was such a xxxx as to be unwatchable, the friends for life thing is lovely but shouldn't take up so much of the show, very disapointing, watched most on line, as that was where the action was.  I imagine the three presenters from last year Peter Pervis Jessica holmes and the other guy were just as embarrased to be involved with this farce,  Hope someone decent picks it up and runs with it for next year.
- By Thompson1 [gb] Date 15.03.10 13:48 UTC
Wonder if the BBC will ever take it back on or channel 4?
- By merlyn26 [gb] Date 15.03.10 18:34 UTC
i know they have to cater for "joe public" - but for those of us who do know about our dogs but werent able to go to crufts we rely on some good tv coverage - i was upset to see so little judging - not even the full group judging - and as others have said - too much chatting, too much friends for life, and too much padding! - as for the scottish chap and claire balding - i actually spent most of the coverage laughing out loud at them - as a horsey enthusiast i am used to putting up with claire balding for all the eventing coverage - but did find the scottish chap strangely amusing as he was so obviously out of his comfort zone - with not a single clue what he was doing there or talking about! i just wish they would show more of the dogs and the breed judging - i barely got a glimpse of a clumber spaniel - and heard there was a heritage breed display - but we didnt see it - and was sad to see the gundog display going on in the background behind claire and yet at no point - on gundog day - did they bother to show us what makes gundogs so fab!
- By JAY15 [gb] Date 15.03.10 19:54 UTC
I'd like to suggest to Lord DFS that if his company ever is allowed to sponsor the show again--and I suppose anything is possible with the Kennel Club--that proper notices are posted for all sofa lovers across the world, "Warning--may contain dogs"
- By rachelsetters Date 15.03.10 19:57 UTC
Well most non doggy friends thought it wasn't on at all - assumed not because it wasn't on TV - so who were they catering for - be interesting to see the viewing figures won't it compared to BBC.

I used to look forward to the daily shows but no more :( we watched them but really did think it was a load of rubbish.

No ringside views - I can see they were trying to educate people and commend that side but needed to balance that with the dog side of things.

All obedience, agility etc. really needs a separate show.

The live streaming was fab and I'd love to see more but I'm not paying for it :(

There has to be a middle ground with all this - oh and the adverts drove us mad!!!
- By tooolz Date 15.03.10 20:06 UTC

> Lord DFS that if his company ever is allowed to sponsor the show again--and I suppose anything is possible with the Kennel Club--that proper notices are posted for all sofa lovers across the world, "Warning--may contain dogs"

And another thing....(since I'm wingeing) ...I resent have pictures of sofas on my prize cards and rosettes... :-(

.....................Its a DOG SHOW
