4 days to Crufts and my girl starts limping this morning, checked her over , her front left foot looks like she has scraped the skin off the side of her pad , it is very pink and looks sore , have been soaking it in hibiscrub on and off all day and will do that for a couple of days and see how she is ...sods law!
Might not be making that early start after all.

Oh dear! Keep it clean but let it dry out a little... might be fine by the Day!

I certainly like my bitches to have had their last litters by 7, the oldest of mine so far at whelping was 7 years 1 month.

Am I loosing the plot Barbara or is it me?It is early and my eyes aren't focusing but ????
- By tooolz Date 08.03.10 08:18 UTC
No I think Barbara is replying to another thread.

To the OP

I would be soaking my dogs foot in salt water several times a day, a super fast way to induce healing. Hibiscrub is antiseptic but rather harsh once the foot has been cleaned.

Fingers crossed Roni. Avoid walking and keep her indoors. I had something similar although not on the pad. A minor spat between two bitches and the oldest got a tiny bite on one leg. It was really small but the leg swelled up pretty quickly. I separated her from the other dogs, she's slept in the bedroom with us so she has soft surfaces all the time and she only goes out for quick toilet breaks, and touchwood, she looks fine now. Didn't take long.

thanks for the tips ...a friend brought around some antibiotic cream she gets in the US she swears by it so though I would try it as nothing to loose , have only let her out for toilets but trying to keep a beardie  from jumping around is  nigh on impossible ! she is doing the dying fly on the sofa as I type <BG>

as long as the skin is not broken you can but a small bottle of spray from boots i think its called " new skin." anyway it dries like a film
- By STARRYEYES Date 08.03.10 08:50 UTC

Blimey are you sure someone in your breed hasn't cursed you! :-D I agree with Kazz, make sure you make it, you must have a winner there.

Ah hope her foot heals in time,  we are avoiding the woods with our boy this week just lead walks, (wrapping him in cotton wool this week ha ha!)

We have entered Crufts for the last 3 years, and so far we have had nasty hot spots, seasons and no coats. So we played safe this year and are taking our youngster who had her season at the end of November so fingers crossed.
