Hi my girl is 5 weeks pregnant and all is going well she is showing all the signs and seems quite relaxed about everything.  The only problem is my other half seems to think she is drinking too much because she is now getting us up in the night to go for a wee, this I can understand as everything is probably pressing on her bladder and the books say this is quite normal, but now hes got me thinking shes drinking too much she weighs abou 30 kgs now and is drinking approx 2litres of water in 24 hours this equates to approx 5 small bowls of water is this normal im thinking the house is also quite warm and maybe this is having an effect too!!! any suggestions greatly appreciated.

I remember doing a calculation of normal water intake (wanted to know what size bowl I was safe leaving five dogs with for a couple of hours) and I worked out that on dry food my 20kg dogs should drink a litre each.

So your 30kg bitch should be having 1.5 litres normally, so 2 litres in pregnancy seems perfectly normal to me.

Of course she will need to pee in the night, it is probably like in people (remember it well) that the urine production continues unabated night and day, where in non pregnant state less is produced at night.

When my bitch was pregnant and after she whelped she was drinking more a day then me, she had a large bowl of water and was drinking it dy every 2hours.
