Hi all,
I have a car crate whih I use for shows but over the years it has become rusty! Is there anyway I can paint the metal bars again to restore it back to its youth..or should I just bin it?
Thanks

If you can't restore it please don't bin it - I am sure your local rescue would love to take it off your hands for transports etc.
I don't want to throw it out but I just can't belive how rusty it has become...also need to get a replacement tray for it too. Been reading up on how to clean rust of cages and apparently coke is good lol

My O.H used to be a paint sprayer and powder coated our crates, they came up like new.Check out yellow pages and look for powder coat sprayers.
Thanks for that cornishmals will have a look!

I did once get a replacement tray for a crate, so I know they exist, but I'm afraid I have no idea where I got it from!

If your dog isn't a chewer, rubber matting is quite good for a cage bottom.
Thanks guys for the suggestions..going to have a good look at it tonight and try and clean it up!

Fine-grade wire wool is also great for getting off rust, esp when combined with WD40.

If you have a standard sized crate, dog health do metal and plastic cage liners. I was £17 delivered for a 48" plastic liner recently.

That's probably where I got my replacement tray cc as that's where I get my fabric crates too. :-)
