well here goes i have a lovly bitch (maisie) nearly 5 who we maited dec 08 took her for a scan at 4 weeks nothing.the 63 day came and went,now she is prone to taking to her bed and nesting with toys etc but never had milk or anything so dont realy know if there true fantoms or not.anyway dec 09 she comes into season so we thought we would try again this time with a proper breader that has used is dog only once before.on her 11 day he wasnt interested so we took her back the day after he was a little more interested but she was still bleeding (she has long bleeding sesions in her seasons) took her back day after and we got a tie for 32mins but he did seam to get a little excited too early so took her back 2 days after and another tie for 39 mins because the first was a little messy we thought try once more so day 17  got a 42min tie.now usually she is all the hubby but it was me who took her for training/feed her/walk her but still worships hubby.but past 2 weeks she is all me even gets on the sofa wen i sit down (never ever has she even attempted this before) and she rolls over and wants me to stroke her tummy.she has expanded her ribs slightly and one nipple is 4 times bigger than the rest and a little flabbyer beetween her back legs,now took her to vet on fri and he had a little feel and said he couldnt feel anything i told him she had put waight on slightly and told him how she was.so he had another feel and said mmm not sure if i just felt something or not but if she is fantoming then that would feel same too.so my questions are to  people if she is and only having 1or2 pups would she show at all? and would there be any chainge?she will be 44 days from first tie would i tell at this stage or not i mean the pups wouldnt be any bigger than your little finger at this stage i imagine so if there is only one /two like the vet said (if she is at all).i would love to hear your experiances with this .thanx soooo much and sorry for the long post.debs

When did the vet feel her? It's very difficult to feel pups after 4 weeks of pregnancy so really it needs to be done by then -earlier rather than later. 3 and half to 4 weeks my old vet always said.  Is there nowhere you can take her for a scan? That can be done later on no problem. Bitches can hide pups very well. I had one where the vet saw just one or two pups on the scan, by 6 weeks she looked like maybe she had two or three pups in there, when they were born there were ten!

well she would have been 41 days so nearly 6 weeks ish .the vet did explaine and say that it was hard to tell ,its hard wen you are used to seeing them every day as you dont always notice change but my sister noticed she had put a bit of waight on but as she said all over.and beacause i have never bred her successfully yet dont know wot to expect to see either.

Yes i know its hard to spot changes when you are with them all the time, a scan will tell you either way, good luck x
