My 5.5 year old bitch has had ongoing weight loss (she's gone from her normal 17.2kg to 14.8kg), vomiting and diarrohea and after blood tests, x-rays and an ultrasound they are fairly certain that this is what she has although she's going in for biopsies next week to absolutely confirm the diagnosis. Her bowel and intestine walls are very thickened, around 5mm as opposed to the normal 2mm, she's very thin and very tired. In the words of the vet her stomach and intestines are 'a doughy mess'. She's been given Hills d/d to tide her over this week until the biopsies and then from what I gathered from the vet and from looking up the condition treatment options are diet and high-dose corticosteroids (prednisone), antibiotics (metronidazole) and immunosuppressants (azathioprine or cyclosporine). Does anyone have any experience of this condition or the treatments for it? Any advice or experiences would be appreciated.
