I'd stick with your homemade version! The cost is very, very high. It worked out that to feed one of my Goldies for a month would be around £85. I feed 4 large dogs and 1 medium sized for a month for less than that doing it myself.

I feed Barf, mainly I have all meat given to me free, but even if I buy raw mince (lamb/beef/offal),chicken wings etc to feed 5 Alaskan Malamutes,2 CEDs a Jack russell and 2 cats costs me around £9 a week(veggies and fruit are what I have left over anyway.

I just had a look at their website - it all sounds lovely and it's a very well designed site.  I can see the appeal if you can afford it as they've taken all the thinking, and guesswork out of raw feeding which must be appealing to a novice raw feeder.  There is also no weighing, mixing or chopping required!

However, if you are already feeding a similar diet then I can't see the benefit for you, unless it's related to your location?  Does this company deliver to you?  It's a very expensive way of feeding your dogs and doesn't seem to provide any food that you cannot source for yourself.  You ought to be able to take advantage of seasonally available produce and get special offer meats too.  I think I recall from another post that you can get venison?

The other advantage of doing it yourself is that you can react to dog related dietary needs so quickly - different weights, dodgy tummy & needs a change for a few days, one hates tripe, one wants veggies one doesn't etc.  I think the flexibility of a 'home construct' raw diet is one of the things I like most about it.  Mind you I'm very happy to buy my pet mince in bulk, so much more convenient :)

thanks for the replys
my prob is living on a small island it is hard to get all the things needed for a good mixed diet.
we only have one small butchers shop and a co op shop for food, no pet shop so all my pet food
shopping is online . i pay approx same price now for venison and if i buy mince it is even more
expensive.

I can imagine your location does make it tricky.  Are there other raw feeders that you could form a buying group with?  It may help you source more regular supplies.  Try searching for BritBarf this is a yahoo group of other like minded raw feeders - there may be someone on there who can advise you.

Have you tried Berriewoods?  I know they use Parcelforce for postal deliveries (frozen blocks of mince only) - I would imagine they are still cheaper

Good luck :)

every one i speak to either uses canned or cheap biscuits from the co op
and look at me as if i have gone mad when i tell them about barf and
chicken wings etc so have given up trying to explain to them about it

Hi
I just mentioned this company on an earlier post. They sent me a free sample- looks fab and the dogs wolfed it down. Takes the worry out of what to feed them if you are unsure and they come in 1 lb bags so no need to measure
