- By annastasia [gb] Date 17.02.10 14:59 UTC
Ah so sorry, it is gutting to be told that, hope it works for you next time
- By Pedlee Date 17.02.10 15:19 UTC
Same happened to me at the end of last year, so I know how you feel.

Will you try again at her next season?
- By Henri3402 [gb] Date 17.02.10 15:38 UTC
Oh, sorry to hear that, it is disappointing.  Don't give up, we tried 3 times, 3 different dogs (all proven) including one of our own with one of our girls and nothing.  In November we said one more chance and then that's it, she had a super litter at the beginning of the year.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 17.02.10 19:15 UTC
Ditto, my girl missed in October, waiting for her to come in season to try again.
- By Ells-Bells [gb] Date 17.02.10 19:45 UTC
Same happened to me last July.  My girl is in season again now - done all I can, swabs etc and starting bloods on Friday.  Really hoping she has a litter this time.  She has had one litter so I was really disappointed when she missed.  Using different stud dog this time - fingers crossed all will be well this time.

I was sure she had caught she was mated 3 times over 6 days she even had sickness for 2 days 21 days after being mated, we are going back for a rescan but not too hopeful she is on day 29 today.
- By LindyLou [gb] Date 17.02.10 20:11 UTC
Fingers crossed for your next scan. I've been trying since November 2008 and my girl is finally due this weekend. Sometimes it just isn't meant to be, but there is still hope. There are several people on here who have been told there were no pups, but the bitch still went on to have a litter.
- By mariap2694 [nl] Date 17.02.10 20:27 UTC
Hey Everyone i had my girl rescanned after being told she was I took her for another one and i knew that she
was no more First 3 weeks all the symptoms you could ask for then they just stopped I am gutted to infact it
has taken me a week to come back on to the sight  lol THe worst thing was telling the stud dog owner who is as excited as me
Alough she was fantastic about it i could not speak to her for the first day in fear of crying But on the good side i will be
so prepared for this season coming jabs tests lots of jiggley insurance in place and the book of the bitch will be my
night time read from now till june x
- By Jolene [gb] Date 17.02.10 20:35 UTC
Sorry to hear your disappointing news :-( ..........is that day 29 from the first mating or the last?
- By alib79 [hu] Date 17.02.10 20:37 UTC
yeah i shed a tear or 2 what we do for our dogs!! but fingers crossed for next time when i had the scan i said i wasnt going  to mate her again but so wanted the pups but the disappointment is so hard.
last season we couldnt get her to mate and was gutted, this time i was sure she would have caught after good matings and ties. i think people dont realise how hard it is to breed a dog let alone the expensive. better luck next time xx
- By alib79 [hu] Date 17.02.10 20:38 UTC
day 29 from 1st mating we told this to the vet and he was fine with that.
- By Jolene [gb] Date 17.02.10 20:54 UTC Edited 17.02.10 20:56 UTC
So if she didn't take until the final mating 6 days later, she could only be on day 23? which is possibly too early to detect anything on the scan? ............I know my scanner wouldn't do us at day 29 as it could be hit & miss if anything was detected
- By alib79 [hu] Date 17.02.10 20:59 UTC
I said this to the vet but he said if she was pregnant he would be able to pick up somthing he wasnt the nicest of vets but the only one in our area with a scanner
- By mariap2694 [nl] Date 17.02.10 21:37 UTC
My first scan was done at 22 days were the sheep scanner could see changes But one week later no more changes and no puppies  :-( x
- By alib79 [hu] Date 17.02.10 21:43 UTC

So sorry to the people who have been told no pups this time xxx         This is a long post so sorry .

I also mated my girl around the same time as most of you and since day 16 she had not been well with one thing or another 2 trips to the emergancy vet and 2 trips to my normal vet , bloods done etc etc

Talk about stress :0(

To be honest i was not going to post anything , but i have searched through about 250 pages on breeding on this site looking to find answers to my questions , so maybe what i post might help others .

Here we go day 16 slight discharge which by the end of the night had gone red/brown/yellow colour & was thick, so i started to panic off to the emergency vets opted for a scan to make sure no nastyness going on in her uterus ( which they said was fine )  , temp fine , gums fine, general self all good , given 2 days of anti biotics .... home we went lighter on the pocket but happy

Fastforward 5 days ( sunday ) , so emergency vet again ..... out of the blue about 9pm she was sick , but had also been off her food so i was praying maybe she had caught ..... this continued untill 2.30 am so off to the vets as it was worrying me & was not nice for my girl ... soon as we walk in the vets she is fine all same checks as before vet tells me i have a healthy bitch  she had a couple of jabs one was for the sickness & off we went  again

Monday following the advice of the vet the night before we take her to our vets for full blood count & antibiotics as she had also gone a bit loose and home we come again ........... my old rescue boy & my other dog that night are both sick but just the once :0(  ..... really wanting to burry my head at this point.

Tuesday rescue boy is fine starved him & also my other dog for 24 hours , but my 19 month old boy then got the runs so followed the usual routine but nothing was helping so off to the vets with him as he was dropping weight he also was given ab's for 5 days , but other than that vet said he also was fine no temp etc ...

Sunday both dogs still had runs on & off one day they are fine the next day they are not , believe me that i tried anything & everything to fix the problem.

Monday we were booked in at the vets to get a scan , more to check nothing was wrong with my girl as no one had any explanation for her being unwell the vets had said maybe it was a bad reaction to pregnancy or maybe she had aborted , so they asked us to leave her with them for an hour ( i really wanted to stay ) so we left her and i just wanted them to call me and say they found nothing wrong with her uterus and that she was well ............. Well 20 minutes later i got the call & it was not what i expected at all , you could have knocked me down with a feather when the girl the other end told me  that they were doing the scan & she just wanted me to know that it had shown PUPPIES .... I did say sorry to her when i went to collect my girl for screaming WHAT down the phone :0)

Right up till now my girl has been happy as larry & i am a nervous wreck as i still have no idea of how this will turn out so for anyone reading this please dont think for one second that breeding is easy because it's really not , i have done nothing but worry since the day she was mated &  i know 100%  i will  worry right through to the end & i think its even worse now i know she is pregnant and the fact she has been poorly is playing on my mind i just hope everything turns out right for my girl.

I will keep you posted
- By mariap2694 [nl] Date 17.02.10 22:05 UTC
that should say sure x

Wouldn't expect anything less off someone who cares about their bitch.  :-)

Good Luck!

I do feel for you, it has just happened to me, first scan wasn't very clear and person doing the scan thought there was something there, this would have been day 28 from 1st mating, she had 3 really good ties over 5 days,  seconed scan at 40 days showed nothing there. She had all the classic symptons and still has, I am still treating her as if she will be having a litter in the vain hope that the vet was wrong, but if nothng happens will just try again next time. The Stud dog owner was gutted too as she knew how much I really wanted this litter.
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 18.02.10 08:35 UTC
My friend had her dog scanned with sheep scanner day 30 told no pups, they were sure she was so took her back nearly 2 weeks later.  Scanner said don't think there's anything there but there cd. be one at 9 weeks gone she had 5 pups which is a pretty average litter size for the breed.
- By alib79 [hu] Date 18.02.10 10:28 UTC
thanks everyone ive had a quick look and today he nipples have changed to a bright pink, i would have put money on she had caught!!
- By annastasia [gb] Date 18.02.10 10:47 UTC
It is heartbreaking when they miss, we went to Germany with our girl in August 2008, i really thought she had caught, was so upset, didnt mate her again until November 2009, was so scared to get our scan man out but i knew in my heart i had to scan her, this time i talked myself into she wasnt in welp again, but she was, 4 babies were born but sadly lost 1 day after, both times did the antibiotics, bloods, canine herpes, you get just 1 mating in Germany which is nerve wrecking, have you got the right day have you not?

Good luck to everyone, dont give up.
