Topic Dog Boards / Health / Infection 4 weeks after being spayed

My poor little baby had the runs on sunday night and then started to go down hill, monday she was OK then monday night she was hot and didnt want her dinner. She just wasnt herself and took herself off to bed (8 month iggy, that never happens!!!)

This morning she wouldnt eat or drink and i noticed discahrge from her vulva, i took her to the vets first thing this morning and they think she could have an infection from her spay 4 weeks a go. She is on a drip, they are starting anti biotics and i am worried about my little girl.

Has anyone experienced a similar thing? My other two females have been spayed and were fine.

I'm so sorry hope she feels better soon. 4 weeks ago though? I don't think it could be infection from that? Maybe it could? but I would have thought that it would have shown sooner.
I'm sure she'll be ok. x

Vet said that the internal stitch would just be dissolving so it would be around that.

When my pup had an op on her leg she got an infection at 4 weeks post op - Same thing, her body wasn't breaking down the stitches properly.

It didn't make her ill though, just her wound was really swollen and weeping in places. A few days before it was fine and the wound looked completely healed.
