Hi, my bitch has just been mated, she is normally ready day 10. Took her to breeders on day 6 and she said they mated on day 7, her blood was still red. Today is day 10 and she is flirting like mad with my boy (her son), she hasnt left him alone all day, he is trying his best to have ago as well and he hasnt left her alone. Now im wondering if day 7 was to early and she may not be pregnant, as every time she comes into season its always day 10 when my boy wont leave her alone. Breeder sent me a photo of them locked.

it might be that she is at her peak now if your boy is dreadfully into her. i know my boy is interested all through a season, but will try to r@pe on the actual day when he knows her body is ready. some less experienced dogs will be into her all season whether she is ready or not
So is it possible she is pregnant. The stud is proven, as i have used him before and he has produced lots of pups for other people as well.

its impossible to say unless you knew when she ovulated. some bitches will stand all the way through a season and some will only stand on the days they are fertile

Why aren't they seperated?

You need to remove the son immediately! Presumably, as you are mating the mother again, he must be at least a year old so fully capable of getting her pregnant. (Unless he's neutered?)
Many bitches will be willing to mate for a week or so, and don't all get ready on the same day every season. Day 7 is not unusual and it's perfectly possible she has taken -but that doesn't mean she can't still be caught by a different dog.

Remember that a bitch will mate with any available male, and litters can have more than one father. Keep your bitch and her son completely separated until her season has finished.
Her son has been neutered and they have not been left alone at all, i have been with them permanently.

she could well have a caught i would take her for a second mating to be sure if thats possible
Just because a bitch is normally ready on day 10 doesn't mean she will always be ready on day 10. Sometimes, just to keep you on your toes, they will ovulate sooner or later than their usual. I've been caught out on this one. My feelings are towards another mating and good old progesterone testing next time, if this doesn't work. Many times, bitches have been bred too early or too late, testing relieves you of this wondering.

I would be going for another mating if it is possible.
Having an ovulation scan is a wonderful tool, but I only know Keith Shea that does it.
The Idex test appears to be the most reliable. :)

We have had this twice with 1 of our females, resulting in 10 puppies. Every season is not the same, We have just had our female ovulation scanned, never done this before but Keith was already at our house, she was ready immediately, will have to wait and see now, we usually blood test.
