Just wondering does anyone do a regular cleanup of thier computer.....I..do once monthly, disk cleanups and defrag. Delete cookies etc.

I also vac out the inside the machine when I think of it. Anyone else and is there anything I am missing to make it run faster

Yes I do all this, don't think there is much else really. It's amazing how filthy it gets inside -despite mine sitting in a cupboard with doors on.

I was told by a computer expert never to hoover the inside of a computer. Much better to blow the dust out with compressed air or something similar (a dog blaster on lowest setting works well!).

You also need to clean the screen as the pixels can become tired as time goes on.

I use this screen cleaner

Amazing how many people don't even use basic file housekeeping on their PC's!

My OH will also regularly check for any 'hangers on'.  Even when using standard programmes, virus checkers, adobe etc you can pick up a lot of free, unnecessary, files.  If you know what you need it's worth deleting the extra's to keep the PC running efficiently.

My OH is useless at getting rid of rubbish on the computer - and it's surprising how much rubbish a windows system accumulates :(  (Unlike my Kubuntu Laptop)  then he complains about how slow it is, time to make a cuppa on start up

He regularly installs programmes and forgets about them, them eventually gets rid, but bits are left :(

I found this programme works brilliantly and all he now has to do is click on it once a month (be better once a week)   son also uses it on his laptop, it went from really s l o w to really fast and stays that way now :-D

I do think your screen cleaner is superior though

I blow hard and have the vacuum there to catch it, so don't actually touch anything. :)
