Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Arden Grange - 6 Bags for the Price of 1 ????
- By Goldiemad [gb] Date 10.02.10 18:58 UTC
Hi All

I don't know if this is genuine, but on a different forum they are having a buying frenzy on the above. Apparently there were two suppliers initially, but one has now sold out. Link is for the one they are shopping at now.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Arden-Grange-Lamb-Rice-Food/dp/B000O6LZG8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&m=A1BXWUVN4SFOXA&s=generic&qid=1265822116&sr=1-1

The price that it is showing is £38.95, with an on-line saving of £165.39 (81%).

Apparently they are ordering and the orders are going through OK, and bank debits are for the correct amount £38.95).
Hope some of you get a bargain.

Wow - that has to be 6 x 2.5kg (= 15kg) bags surely...

I can't decide.  The saving of £165.39 (81%) looks good and the description does say 6 x 15kg bags but then it says packed weight is 14kg!!

Is it too good to be true?  :?
- By Goldmali Date 10.02.10 19:37 UTC
Enlarge the picture. It clearly shows a 2.5 kg bag. 6 x 2.5 kg =15.......

No apparently in the small print, that someone had the foresight to save, it does state 6 x 15kg.

Also the online saving is in line with the 6 x 15kg.

Looks like it was a pricing error. so good luck to all those that benefited. Apparently quite a few people who ordered after 6pm are receiving emails stating their order has been cancelled as they are out of stock.

There does appear to be some confusion though as others are having their orders confirmed. I think if I fed AG I would go ahead and try and place an order and if it went through great, if not nothing lost.
- By Lorripop [gb] Date 10.02.10 20:19 UTC
well i looked and have ordered it! got confirmation email from amazon of the order.

went onto to dog-online uk and sure enough under the arden grange this lamb and rice flavor is 6 x 15kg for the price £38+, other flavors seems a normal price for one bag.

I expect it all goes out of date by the end of the week so need to off load!!!

we'll wait and see what happens. The free delivery is not the case and i paid £2.75 but hey if i get 6 bags who cares.

Hi Lorripop, is it this company?
- By Lorripop [gb] Date 10.02.10 20:49 UTC
Hi
Well its certainly the same doggy logo but it was connected to amazon (ijust clicked on it on the amazon site), on the main website i cant see the same deal so a bit odd.

Think we got the last, this now comes up =  Currently unavailable.
We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock.

Oh how frustrating!!!!   My food of choice when I was still in the UK, can't find a food I like the look of out here in Australia just now, and since the upset stomach saga, I do wish I could get Arden Grange.  Humph!  :(
- By Lorripop [gb] Date 10.02.10 21:58 UTC
we either got the last or someone has twigged that this was a very costly offer! I think a big mistake and we're all probably get emails cancelling or they'll take the loss and we will be quids in with a bargain of the year.

The former, I expect, but we can live in hope!

It seems quite a few people are now getting confirmation orders, giving a delivery date of between 15th and 18th Feb.

I hope you are get your food, it's just a shame I don't feed it.
- By briedog [gb] Date 11.02.10 08:30 UTC
if you look now currantly unavaiable
- By Lorripop [gb] Date 11.02.10 08:34 UTC
i have looked this morning and they are offering at around £167 for the 6 bags.

Do hope we get it and they dont take extra money on credit card! think i will email them and check.

i expect some poor person is going to be in big trouble.
- By Lorripop [gb] Date 11.02.10 08:36 UTC
sorry its buy a different seller though to 'dogs on line'

- By briedog [gb] Date 11.02.10 08:46 UTC
it stated you save £36 NOT THAT YOU GET IT FOR £36.
i was lucky to but 12 sack of jwb fish at £29 a sack of 15kg from pah that was mty deal for the year.
- By Lorripop [gb] Date 11.02.10 10:56 UTC
the link that i put up earlier has changed again! it says its only for one bag now at £29 but a saving of 86%?? thats not right either.

The offer i did definately said £38 for 6 bags of 15kg and i have email to confirm.
- By Baz Date 11.02.10 11:36 UTC Edited 11.02.10 11:40 UTC
Goldiemad thanks for putting the link on :-) we also have email to confirm.

UPDATE
I emailed amazon but no response as yet, I also emailed dog online uk as they are the sellers and the response back is 'this is not our offer and we are in despute with amazon and the order will be cancelled'

hope full refund will be asap then and interesting to know what amazon will say.

Isn't there some law about advertising and procing and that if thats what the goods are advertised at then the consumer has the right to buy them at that price???
- By dogs a babe Date 11.02.10 13:23 UTC
I just got this email

Dear Customer,

We're writing to inform you that your order 2xxx7 from Dog-Online UK has been cancelled by the seller with the following reason:

...and then no reason given!

They have however confirmed that my credit card has not been charged
- By Lorripop [gb] Date 11.02.10 13:27 UTC
me too
- By carolyn Date 11.02.10 13:36 UTC
Doesnt the law state that once payment has been recieved then they have entered into a contract with the buyer to supply the goods, but there is no
contract until the payment is taken.
- By Baz Date 11.02.10 13:40 UTC
Me too
- By Goldiemad [gb] Date 11.02.10 18:40 UTC
Not time now, but will check on the other forum, as someone posted that Amazon will honour any offers made through their site.

Will update you all later.
- By Goldiemad [gb] Date 11.02.10 22:21 UTC
Right I have checked the other thread and it appears as though it was a typists error, where the listed the total selling price for 6 x 15kg bags as the discount, and vice versa.

Some people now have their orders as showing as despatched and their bank accounts have been debited with the thirty odd pounds.

Here is what someone has posted about Amazon's Terms and Conditions:

Amazon terms and conditions regarding mispricing -

'16. Pricing and availability

We list availability information for products sold by us on the website, including on each product information page. Beyond what we say on that page or otherwise on the website, we cannot be more specific about availability. Please note that dispatch estimates are just that. They are not guaranteed dispatch times and should not be relied upon as such. As we process your order, we will inform you by e-mail if any products you order turn out to be unavailable.

Despite our efforts, a small number of the millions of products in our catalogue are mispriced. Rest assured, however, that we verify prices as part of our dispatch procedures. If a product's correct price is lower than our stated price, we charge the lower amount and send you the product. If a product's correct price is higher than our stated price, we will, at our discretion, either contact you for instructions before dispatch or cancel your order and notify you of such cancellation.

For more details, please review our Pricing and Availability policy and our Availability Guide, both of which apply to products ordered from us.

All prices are inclusive of VAT unless stated otherwise.'

So they have a 'get out' clause (as do most retailers) but get your arguments ready for discretion!!

I will keep you posted and fingers crossed for those who ordered and have not been notified that their order has been cancelled.

> it appears as though it was a typists error, where the listed the total selling price for 6 x 15kg bags as the discount, and vice versa.

It isn't actually an Amazon error.  A Marketplace product is listed by that trader not by Amazon - the dog wotsit co is blaming Amazon for what appears to be their own mistake.
- By LouiseDDB [gb] Date 11.02.10 23:42 UTC
Well it's really classed as an invitation to treat and you accept this and make a contract when you pay for it, so legally they can't withdraw tbh
- By pugnut [gb] Date 12.02.10 08:24 UTC
Shame it didnt go unnoticed lol. Six for the price of one would've been great! :-D
- By Lorripop [gb] Date 12.02.10 09:07 UTC
when i emailed the dog website people they took no responsibility and blamed amazon. The order on amazon got cancelled and deleted.

never mind, as they say if it sounds to good to be true it probably is.
- By Lily Mc [gb] Date 12.02.10 09:32 UTC

> Shame it didnt go unnoticed lol.

Of course the trouble with the internet is that these things never go 'unnoticed'. If the first person who saw it had done the order and kept quiet, they might well have received it as packing and billing are often separate functions. However, post it on the internet and you can imagine how many people hit that order button - guaranteed to bring it to their attention LOL.

Not taking the moral high ground - I did too, although not really with any expection of receiving it - but if they were forced to honour these orders it would probably bring companies to their knees!
