My girl is due to pop 19 days and we are looking to keep pick male from the litter.

My last litter the puppy we kept was called "puppy" for 3 months

SO! Wanting to preemp it this time and have a name me and my husband agree on.

Problem is: I like human names for dogs. I cant think of anything worse than calling my dog "bruno, fluffy, noodle"  etc
Husband likes dog names... like bruno, fluffy and noodle!!

SO! I need to come up with a few names we can agree on before he gets here!

Eli and Cash went down well.. but i am not 100% on them.

I know we arnt to reveal breeds on here but its a working breed, big dog and calling it "schnookums" isnt really the look we are going for!!!

Dave - Dave the dog :D I love this name lol also adore Norman too, if i ever get another dog & it was a male working breed then these are the first names i'd be thinking about. I also love stanley but alas there could never be another "stan the man " for me :-(
Good luck :-)

- By Whistler [gb] Date 09.02.10 13:10 UTC
I wanted Peter! I had a Peter a long time ago, all my females were called Shera, I hada friend who had about 3 GS (not at the same time) and they were all "Sam".
- By Otterhound Date 09.02.10 13:14 UTC

- By sam Date 09.02.10 13:31 UTC

- By Hilly [gb] Date 09.02.10 13:36 UTC
I particularly like Brody, and it would go with Bracken and Bramble.

I also LOVE keith and dwayne, i'm sure these would go down a storm in the park!
- By Cani1 [gb] Date 09.02.10 13:41 UTC
Hiram - which means King , George , Guido , Eugene (one of my pups was named this and he soo suited it) Brodie , Dan , Valentino , Loris , Barry when we have a litter I usually name them after motorbike racers.
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 09.02.10 13:42 UTC

>I hada friend who had about 3 GS (not at the same time) and they were all "Sam".

Didn't that make it very confusing when talking about past dogs? You couldn't say "Do you remember when Sam did X?" because who'd know which one you were talking about!
- By chelzeagirl [gb] Date 09.02.10 13:45 UTC Edited 09.02.10 13:50 UTC
I like Stan , cause Stans the Man , lol
my EBT Ellie, her dads name was Reggy, he was a proper lil devil to ,
my boy rottie is Zeus and suits him well
- By Whistler [gb] Date 09.02.10 13:46 UTC
I know but he said he felt that he did not lose a Sam when he always had one. Really devoted to his GS, still has a Sam now.

Ours ended up Whistler as his kennel name was Whistler in the Wind which I thought was fab and Jake - choosed by OH as he is def. His dog.

But if I had a female again she would be Shera!! dont know why but I cant think of another name.
- By Lollie [gb] Date 09.02.10 13:46 UTC
I have a George and an Otis, but I like Stanley, Norman, Basil, Bob, again all old names.
- By bilbobaggins [gb] Date 09.02.10 14:11 UTC

- By STARRYEYES Date 09.02.10 14:19 UTC
three of my puppies are named Dennis  Dylan Hugo
- By Heidi2006 Date 09.02.10 16:10 UTC
Askara I don't think there's a problem with naming the breed - yu can guess most peoples' breed by their avatar anyway.
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but there's loads of posts naming breeds.
- By WolfieStruppi [gb] Date 09.02.10 16:24 UTC
I got put off using human names when a previous (new) neighbour was in the garden calling "DAVID"! We thought her hubby must be henpecked until we found out it was the name of their cat.
- By Askara [gb] Date 09.02.10 16:26 UTC
in that case!!

Dobermanns... or doberballs.. dobersplats, dobertwats, doberhoovers... or what ever else you want to call them!!!

so as you can see... naming it Fluffy-wuffy-kins may not suit!!

His daddy is called Schnupps which i think is a brilliant name.. but cant call him that!
- By CVL Date 09.02.10 16:29 UTC
I like human names for dogs too :-)

I think Dave is by far the most brilliant name for a dog, but there are too many human Daves in my immediate family... it's already confusing!

I chose Dexter and Melvin for my boys, which are human-ish, but you wouldn't bump into one every day!

Bruce, Wallace, Boris, Roy and Simon are my list for the future :-D

Good luck!!
- By Heidi2006 Date 09.02.10 16:29 UTC
What about 'Schnapps'

My fav name for a male is 'Zack'  I had one many years ago a brilliant dog
- By jollypolly [gb] Date 09.02.10 16:33 UTC
I  once had a dog called Dempsey.
- By kiger [gb] Date 09.02.10 16:47 UTC

> I think Dave is by far the most brilliant name for a dog

My friend's dog is called Dave, he really does suit it :-) gets so many laughs when she is calling him in the park :-D
- By newf3 [gb] Date 09.02.10 16:52 UTC
stan or sid
- By Pedlee Date 09.02.10 16:54 UTC
A friend had a Dobe called Malcolm which really suited him.
- By Masonsmum [gb] Date 09.02.10 17:06 UTC
I love Hugo, Rory, Harry, Bill and Mac.
Human names for dogs are great. Met a 'pumpkin' in the park the day! Poor chap!

I also think it is really hard to name a pup before you have met them or had a chance to get to know them! I had a list as long as my arm for Mason but as soon as he arrived I didn't like any of them and it took me ages to choose! Saying that, I mostly call him sausage or Mr. Naughty now so I don't know why I worried :)
Have fun choosing!
- By SharonM Date 09.02.10 17:27 UTC
One of my pups is being called Bosley off Charlies Angels, I have a Dylan
- By susieq [gb] Date 09.02.10 19:04 UTC
Kaiser...............my friend had a Rott called this and it really suited him : )
- By Kasshyk [gb] Date 09.02.10 19:27 UTC
Otto! my next GS boy will be Otto or Dexter :-)
- By Askara [gb] Date 09.02.10 19:40 UTC
LOL

I know! We want to get a short list and see what suits him!

Ruby is often called "naughty puppy" and now responds to that too!

I LOVE DEXTER! although people may think we are obsessive Charlotte Church fans if we have a Ruby and a Dexter!
- By Jewel [gb] Date 09.02.10 19:49 UTC
I really like the name Caelan or how about Cooper ;-)
- By CVL Date 09.02.10 19:57 UTC
Call him Dexter :-D!!  I was quite annoyed when Charlotte Church stole my dog's name, but no one else has ever commented on it.
- By pugnut [gb] Date 09.02.10 20:10 UTC
Between ourselves and puppy owners we've had/have, Albert, Nick, Cole, Bruce, Eric, Bobby/Bob, Monty, Herbert...

I also prefer 'proper' names ;-) lol
- By dogsbody10 [gb] Date 09.02.10 20:48 UTC
My little boy is called Dexter. He has American lines behind him and I was hooked on the t.v serial Dexter at the time my bitch was in whelp.

Cadbury
- By ChristineW Date 09.02.10 22:09 UTC
My dog is Curtis, I've yet to hear of another dog called Curtis and it's amazing how many people say that Curtis really suits his name!  And several teenage boys tell me Curtis is a cool name!  My previous male - his grandsire - was Addison named after Bruce Willis's character from Moonlighting, David Addison.   Addison's KC name had Moonlighting in it.

Curtis' only brother is called Lucas and I really like that too.  I also like Luther & Jerome.
- By bilbobaggins [gb] Date 09.02.10 22:38 UTC
