Can the police trace a blocked number when a threatening call was made to a mobile? I mean massive threat, like slitting my throat?
- By Oldilocks [gb] Date 08.02.10 20:28 UTC
You should inform them and ask them Otterhound.

Ring the police and get it logged and ask them advice.

Is that the earliest they can see you ? Your life has been threatened !
- By Otterhound Date 08.02.10 20:56 UTC
That's what they told me.. My 5 yro is asleep and I've got my dogs with me in the kitchen. Nearest neighbour is a mile up the road. It's rescue related and to a dog I took in, legally so with owner surrender, but it appears that the "breeder" has friends in low places..

gosh thats dreadful. can anyone come round and stay with you tonight?
- By Cani1 [gb] Date 08.02.10 21:22 UTC
I've no advice on the tracing of phone numbers but I've been in a similar situation . After selling my husbands speed boat a man had it a few weeks wrecked the engine then wanted his money back. My hubby was working abroad and I had no money in the house to give him. He came round with his mates and said he'd give us 24hours to get his money (which I didn't have) if I didn't he'd kill both me and my son who was a baby in arms then burn us in our house!
I was in shock so gave my son to a family member to look after so at least he was safe. I called the police at the time and they refused to come out , they said they couldn't do anything unless he had actually harmed me or my child first!
The next day I had my husbands friends at the house with me for security , they did turn up when they said but backed off when they seen all the men surround them , the main man shouted what he was going to do to us again so I had plenty witness' but yet again the police wouldn't even give them a warning.
I didn't sleep properly for weeks until I found out one of my hubby's friends had been and sorted the situation out at his house , I didn't really realise how close our friends really were until this happened.
The whole gang were on the front page of our local newspaper last year and were all jailed for numerous years for serious offences. I felt very lucky when I saw it but felt angry with the police for not helping.
I hope the police help you more than Northumbria police helped me.

Can you get some friends to come over and stay with you tonight? I know you must be worried sick!

I tried to explain the situation to the cops but I think they thought I was a nutter. Slitting someones throat over a dog blabla.

I called a friend and she will be here within the hour.

OMG they are both dreadful stories, that is terrible the police wont come out unless you or your baby have been harmed. glad to hear the other scumbags were jailed, fully deserve it.

Oh my Gosh!!!
How frightening :(
How are you? Have you had any luck with the police?
- By Otterhound Date 09.02.10 12:29 UTC
Hi, yes, I've been straight down to the nearest town's Garda station, they took all the details of my mobile and said they will be on to O2 to see if it's traceableable (sp). Took the whole sorry saga down in writing, gave the usual "safety" advice, told me to log any calls related to this etc pp. Tbh, I am more angry than frightened, I've received threatening calls before over dogs which mostly involved cruelty cases but this one takes the biscuit. The police wasn't much interested until I reminded them what breeds we are talking about and who is involved with them.

Hi All,

Could I just say that if you are convinced there is a real threat please do not take no for an answer ( I can't speak for the Garda-no experience with them) insist on a response and go as high as you need to. The Police are immensely over stretched however please do not be "fobbed off" these things are serious and it is up to us all to ensure they are treated as such.

Thanks,

Jeff.

Are you ok? people do get upset over dogs I know but this is really risky what you are doing please take care.
- By Carolineckc Date 10.02.10 11:13 UTC
nothing to really ad that hasnt' been said just hope you get it all sorted and your ok x
- By Otterhound Date 10.02.10 12:24 UTC
I am fine and the dog in question is now in a foster home so no longer here at my rescue. I am feeling uneasy but there is little I can do. I've been on to the Gardai and they told me they are awaiting a call from o2. If nothing comes of that then I will have to go higher. I live very remote and alone with my child, so of course this is an ongoing concern. :(

Years ago, somebody was leaving long messages in my mobile daily...
Talking as long as the answerphone recorded saying things they would like to do to me(sexual kind), when should they come and visit, saying they know I'm home alone etc...
I even talked to them as I picked up the phone but I still had no idea who this person was.

The messages got worse and worse and after about a week I went to the police, their response: Change your phone number!
I had to speak to them via a phone in the reception and describe what was said in the messages... Nobody was even bothered to come down, take proper notes and listen to the messages themselves!
Needless to say I think very highly of the police here...
Do not let them just ignore you and your fears!
- By LJS Date 10.02.10 21:46 UTC
I am sure you will be fine. If the dog in question is worth any money which I doubt, the threats will come to nothing :-)

If you have had no further threats try and relax now ;-)
