There are details on here on other posts, but after my experience don't really think that they do equate how they say they do.  If you really want to know then you need to send your dogs own x-rays to the other countries I suppose!

Thinking of sending one of mine to Sweden and seeing what they score her as there.

Bit like mine and excellent and then scored 41!  Though saying that after reading the DW on PenHipp is the BVA scoring any good?

An imported US champion was scored here on his original OFA x-rays, where he scored good, and the score was borne out here as he scored 10.

I was at a health seminar last week where one of the speakers was an orthopeadic consultant vet specialist , in his view the BVA scheme was the most reliable of all the hip schemes used around the world. He felt the FCI and OFA schemes were highly variable in their application of the scoring. He was howeever more positive about the Penn hip scheme and stated that it could be a good indicator of which dogs may get secondry arthritis due to laxity in the hips, as some dogs with high BVA scores will never have pain or show signs of lameness, he felt therefore that this MAY be of benefit but only if used in addition to the BVA scheme.  He did not offer the penn hip xrays at his practice and did not plan to do so therefore his view would appear to be unbiased.

In FCI where A-E is used the results and what they are vary by country too.
In my country of origin they are much tighter, so some people are traveling across the borders to get xrays done in a different country to get good results on the paper!
So much so Kennel club will now state xrays taken abroad, if any finnish registered dog gets them done across the borders(I suppose this is to point out the score was not given by Finnish KC).

So just as an example dog that scores A in France, might score C in Finland... It all is up to the panelist who is scoring the xrays.
A1 is better than A2, B1 is better than B2...

A&B are generally seen as acceptable score to breed from(across most breeds), sometimes C...
D&E are seen as pretty bad and should not be bred from in most breeds and many kennel clubs will not register puppies off parents that have such hips.

But of course in some breeds where scores are high in general, these dogs do get used as well and Kennel clubs have more loose registration regulations.
Newfies being one, just as an example in Finland between 2000-2008 44% scored D or E...
