My bitch Sophie has a strange habit, I would like to know if anyone else has this problem.
I have a male ESS and 2 female ESS.  Sophie tries humping Keira after she has eaten.  This is the only time she does it!  Keira does not like it at all.  I have asked a vet friend if she has heard of this but she said no!
If Sophie has eaten and you hear Keira growling you know whats happening :-) We think its hilarious, but poor Keira is not amused!!!
Do you think it could be something in the dog food?

My girl (15 tomorrow!) used to air-hump at her mother, and only immediately after supper. It seems to be the ultimate expression of 'feel-good'!

Oh well at least I no Sophie is not the only one in the doggie world to do it :-)

Mine has a funny habit after eating, he comes into our living room and rubs his face and mouth all over the carpet - after he has given me a big lick!  That is the only time he does this!  So he doesn't have the same problem, but this seems to be his little ritual.

Yep, my girl does this after eating, to my male, bless him, he just continues to eat!!

My dog runs around with his head on the ground rubbing his face first one side then the other on the carpet after he has eaten and also whenever he comes home from a walk.
He also does the same thing on the cricket pitch where there is a recatngle of artificial grass for the bowler, whenever we walk across there he runs over and spends ages running around it rubbing his face - it looks very strange.
I used to think his face was itchy but now i think he just likes it.

My daughters dog Denzil does that :-) It was hysterical in the snow when he was just pushing himself along on one side then the other :-)

It's nice to hear of other dogs and other breeds that do it - both my Cavs do, but my Yankee doesn't!

My little dog loves to rub her face on the carpet.  I had read that it could be a symptom of allergies, but it sounds like it might just be a doggy thing!

I've heard it described as a "Victory Roll" - it's something some dogs do when they've just had, or are anticipating, something nice or specially enjoyable.

My boy does it after he has been sick!  It is like he is trying to rub the horrible taste away.  If he could work out what to do with it, a bit of doggy chewing gum would go down well ;)  My girl doesn't do it at all

My bitches with pups do this when I have just put clean vetbed in!

Yes, all three of mine like to wipe their faces in the carpet after an especially fine dinner--rabbit usually gets them going. I've always understood this just to be an expression of joy after a good meal, and they always come over to lick a hand first in thanks. What a fine bunch we share our lives with!

Mine sometimes do it just after drinking too!

Yep mine do this aswell & I see it as an expression of joy! A good face rub on the carpet followed by a shake of the chops & a sigh of "aaaahhh that felt good" :)

I was visiting her breeder few months ago, in runs my girls dad and does the exactly same wiping action my girl does! Funny what they can inherit :)
My girl and her daddy also have a same style of playing(rolling on their backs)..
It is so funny to watch when the two get together and play, does not happen very often as they live in different countries...
They both lay on the ground on their backs kicking, waiting for the other to jump on them like other dogs would do!
So the play does not quite work out as planned as nobody is doing the "top dog" part :)

My youngest girl bolts down her food, runs to find me burbs a burb that surely couldn't have come out of my dainty girl, looks up at me, gives her tail a quick wag and then runs back to lick the bowl out.  I've told her ladies dont do such things, but after 2 years I've given up.  My OH finds it hilarious!

lol - my little springer does the same - he makes sure you are looking at him before he burps and then runs off - chuffed as punch - has us all in stitches!

We have a burper (our girlie).  She eats, comes in to see you and burps right in your face. Our boy is a face rubber, walls and sides of the sofa being favourites.
