My Doberman is constantly hungry! he is constantly scavenging! even straight after a feed. He is regularly wormed and i devide up his daily allowance into 4 meal times. He is fed on a dried food called pro plan for large puppies. He is growing rapidly 11 and a half kilos and he was the runt. He is 15weeks old. He is extremely stubborn and it is very hard to train him. I came on this site for help before and got some good advice which we have used but it doesnt seem to be working. He constantly jumps up at people. We tried putting his feet on the ground and giving him lots of attention but he constantly jumps up.
house training has gone from bad to worse. We let him out every forty mins. It doesnt matter how long he is out there for he will come straight back in and do his business on the floor. He definately knows its wrong because the minute he does it he runs to his bed I am at my wits end and i realy need some sound advice.
Please help.
What am i doing wrong?

Have you booked him in for some training classes? In a way its a good thing that he is so food orientated as it will really help with the training!! Remember he is just a baby and both of mine were very cheeky at that age. Is he crate trained? I think it would be a god send with his toilet training.

Instead of letting your dog be loose and alone in the backyard ..... accompany him outside to a particular spot.
Figure out what you want as an 'instruction phrase' (I use "Take a break" )
Tell him that everytime you go out or when he gets distracted.
Then remain out there with him until he pees/poops and praise afterwards. While you're out there, don't play with him, don't laugh at antics. It's serious business time ;)
Eventually, it will sink in that your instruction and his actions are related. It comes in handy for future walks and travel.
It also gives you an idea of what he's doing out there, his health, and how his bladder/bowel functions are timed for him.

good luck,

Hi Guest -Dobes are velcro dogs ( well mine is ) and at 15 weeks he's very much still a baby ,I would stay outside with him like Toodles says .
As for the jumping up that is still early days and it will come if you persever :)
does he eat all his food when you put it down ?
My lad would scavenge ( given half the chance ) but if you don't give tit bits then they learn not to .
He gets nothing from me but waits sooo patiently while hubby makes his sandwiches for a bit of cheese :D
Why don't you register, there are a few Dobe owners and a couple of breeders on here who are only too happy to help ( or just sympathise !! )
Liz :)
