Topic Dog Boards / Health / dna testing settle my mind :-(
- By Romside [gb] Date 01.02.10 19:46 UTC
i took lola to a bva registered vet back in november and had her eyes tested,as some may remember the vet was horribly rude to me and gave me no info on the test or anything eles and i really didnt ever want to go back there not ever for anything............soooooo
i booked in with val tiller in epsom surry.for tommorrow.im looking forward to it too as ill know her result and will have plenty of time to prepare ahould things be not good.on the other hand should it all be good i can rest my mind for good.
but im worried ill look like a spare part im very nervous on meeting new people and hate being out of place.
has amyone eles been here before?ive spkoen to val and she seems lovely and so helpful too.
just wondered what i should be expecting i really dont like the unknown :-(

I was booked with Val for one of her sessions, but ended up going to one sooner.

The one I went to had a lady vet taking the blood, and countersigning the paperwork I had printed off from Optigen to whom I made payment on-line.

The lady took the paperwork and the blood and sent if off.

You will probably be queueing with people waiting their turn and be able to chat dogs.

Hi Tamara you will be in the same boat as everyone else there with their dogs, they wont all know each other either :-) . Val has been running these clinics for quiet awhile now and is a nice lady so things should go smoothly and be done in a friendly atmosphere.

Oh Val is lovely and so was everyone els.the vet was so good with Lola and she was such a good girl.he took the blood and she didnt make a sound.i was in peices as im thinking oh god shes not gonna talk to me for ages now but she wasnt phased by it at all.
i met the fluffiest little 12 week old puppy girlie and oh my god sooooo cute.im glad all went well with the testing and now i just got the horrible wait. :-(

We are too far away, so sent Val our blood by post!  Did they say approx how long before results would be back?

Hi Hilda from past experience results usually start coming back in about 10-14 days depending if you requested email notification.
- By Romside [gb] Date 03.02.10 08:59 UTC
i did ask actually, val said they should let me know by e mail around two weeks time but theyre not so quick at sending out certificates.thats what val said but i suppose others on here have had the tests done and could probably advise you better having experience.i dont care now anyway because at least its not months,id die if i had to wait that long.it was bad enough waitin for the test day to come.lol

I posted off my youngest girl's blood sample to Optigen last week and got the 'received' email today, it said the current turnaround time is approximately 2 weeks from receipt of the sample. The last time I sent bloods to Optigen I got the email results after 12 days. Hope everyone gets good results :-)

I got the receipt email 7 days after I posted the samples, I know they got there the day before though as I was tracking the delivery.

Ah but you would have not had the 20% saving.
- By working_cockers [gb] Date 12.02.10 20:15 UTC Edited 12.02.10 20:26 UTC
Well I just had a big surprise, I checked my email shortly after posting on this thread and the results had come in from Optigen! My girl is clear so I'm over the moon :-) That was 9 days from getting the receipt email so you shouldn't have to wait too long Tamara!
