Hi
i wondered if anyone uses/has used newdog whelping mats, i usually use vetbed when whelping but saw these and wondered if they would be better or just do the same job
Any advice would be greatfully received

I have a bitch who is the worst 'rearranger' of bedding I've ever had.  Every morning her bed is in a muddle and when I mated her last year I was so worried that puppies would get buried.  I bought the Newdog whelping box and mats and they really are brilliant.  The mats are quite expensive - I started off with two but soon found that I needed a third - but they washed and washed great.  The inserts draw any liquid away from puppies so they keep lovely and warm and dry and the best thing is mum can dig to her heart's content but the bedding stays put.

I saw these a couple of weeks ago...they look ok...they also have waterproof inserts aswell as the stiffening inserts. I have got 4 peices of vetbed, but I might just get a couple of these

LOL, it's good to know I'm not alone.
I have just ordered two of the mats and the inserts, quite expensive but the reviews were all good, i'm sure they will be used.

I'm looking at these also, but not going to get the waterproof inserts as when I enquired, they said they were good for when the bitch is whelping ( all that water & mess) but TBH, I'm not spending over £120 on whelping mats plus more for inserts for them to be wrecked during whelping, they did say that you wouldn't need waterproof inserts between the bitch whelping and the pups being around 3 weeks old as they don't pee much 'til then (the bitch is clearing it all away)

HTH's

Roll on scan day when I can order and spend to my hearts content :-D

I would not want to be without these, don't use them during delivery lots n lots of newspaper and towels for that. Once the bitch has finished whelping I sort the box out and put these down, great for bitches that dig as they just don't move so no pups under the fleece. They also dont slide about and I am sure the pups are on their feet farster.  Actually that may be a down side as the little darlings are soon escaping the box !!!!!!!!!
