Hi..Just a quick question
My bitch has become very clingy towards me during the last couple of days. She was mated on the 9th of Jan, and should be 3 weeks pregnant this saturday. I cant even go to the loo without her crying for me!!
Is it normal for them to become so loving and clingy so early?

I going to burst before she gets her scan I think!!!!

Ok, maybe not quite so quick as my girl is normally a take it or leave it kind of girl. She has been following me everywhere for the past few weeks (she is 5 1/2 weeks gone :-) ) and it is so frustrating when I change my mind on where I'm going, turn around and almost stand on her feet.

My girl has a litter at the moment, she was never one for lots of love but a few weeks after being mated she would not leave me and my husband alone! :-p

cheers...yes..everytime i turn round..there she is looking at me with those big brown eyes!!!
Wanting to get on the sofa for cuddles...she wasnt to bothered about hubby but now she loves him!!!!

Sounds like typical pregnant bitch behaviour to me.

my bitch when she had her first litter was so clingy she wouldnt even nest in her box properly and between pups when she was whelping and getting a drink she jumped in my lap. i'll be honest there is nothing more icky (and i say icky because i dont know how else to describe it) than a bitch dropping her placenta onto your bare legs at 4.30 am.

good luck though, one of my breeder friends found this all highly amusing. her next litter though she was far more settled.

Our female was the same she wouldnt stay in the welping box, she kept sitting on the couch until the 1st puppy was born, yes it is not nice, theres blood on my couch now.

When I realised that there was no way that she would settle unless she gave birth on the sofa, I covered it with bath towels.  My bitch scrunched them up, and gave birth on the one spot that there was no towel!

It doesnt matter does it lol, my couch is cream and cloth, typical females ha ha!

Ditto here, my girl was mated on the 3rd Jan, so nearly 4 weeks, she was always a mummys girl and would follow me anyway,but wouldn't really bother that much with my partner, but now oh boy she loves him no,  when he comes in from work, she is straight on his knee and works her way up his chest and then the cleaning starts, she cleans all his face neck etc, it's so funny.
Scan is booked for Monday so will know one way or the other then, but if she isn't I will be very surprised.

I will be very surprised if my girl isnt preggers...but unlike you I have to wait another 2 weeks to find out!!!

My girl also gave birth to first puppy on the sofa!  Once that puppy was put in the whelping pen, she stayed in there with no problem.

I thouht my girl was clingy but she has even taken to her head on the sofa staring at me I come out of the bathroom to falling over her or worse down stairs loo dose not have a lock so she barges in leaves door open and my friends pop in for a coffee to find me sat on the loo  She was mated on the 10th January So i too have another week to go before the scan I have slowed down in the nipple feeling though cause they dont seem to be getting any bigger or changing colour lol Good Luck Every one x

im sat here curled up on the sofa..with her curled up in the crook of my legs...looking at me with big brown eyes!!!
Shes 3 weeks today(hopefully)...its going so slow!!!!
I cant wait to spend the weeks sleeping on the mattress on the front room floor again:)

Ive now been kicked off the sofa and shes stretched out, sound asleep and snoring.
we had 3 matings between the 9th and 12th..was meant to be 2..but we couldnt get back down to collect, so she gave us an extra mating..mainly because she was still standing for the dog. I just hope we didnt mate her too early:(
Definitly clingy tho..only time will tell.

Mines getting scanned tomorrow, can't wait.
She has all the signs such as enlarged nips, swollen vulva, being clingy but she had a phatom many years ago so lets hope that this time it's real.

I am still nipple studying :-O They do look perky and the hair around them seems a bit lacking......I'm probably imagining it all!

I felt her sides tonight and I'm sure ! they seem fuller

just another 10 days to go 'til scan day :-)

Hey everyone I had my little girl scanned today by a sheep scanner ( mated her on 10th jan) so she is 22 days
The lady can see def changes so she has caught just need to hope now that she doess not reabsorb Will be takin her back next week
to doubley check x x Still nipple feeling though and will be going to buy myself a stethascope lol  x xx

fingers crossed for you..........my sheep scanner wouldn't scan 'til next week - day 36 :-O    

She likes it to be later it was her husband who made the appointment so while i was there she thought go on then
And could see things YIPEE not to excited though much  x

Had my girl scaned last night, first mating was on the 3rd Jan last mating 7th Jan, and yes there was definitley something there, no numbers, but she has taken but if we go from the last mating she would only be 28 dats today. Yipee!! I might have another scan done later to see if we can get a better picture of numbers.

Yes, am so thrilled.
Just started ordering things now, new whelping box - (fit and fertile are doing quite good deals on them at the moment), and other essentials.
Keeping my fingers crossed everything goes smoothly now.

My vet has said they will scan her at 30 days ..lol...
Shes been off her food the last couple of days, mixed a bit of meat in with her kibble yesterday..she wasnt very interested but had a bit...last night I tried tuna in sunflower oil and she ate the lot, shes had a nibble this morning and has gagged a couple of times, shes sound asleep at the moment. She also has a slight clear discharge...no smell though. Isnt it a bit early for the discharge? Shes happy in her self.

We only had 1 mating also Mariap 9its the norm in Europe) also on day 15, got 4 puppies, sadly 1 didnt make it but 3 healthy strong pups still with us.

No chance of mine going off her food :-O   she'd have to have her throat cut before that ever happened lol  ...... still not into going out for walks much.... she's got lazyboneitis! What used to take us 45 mins is taking around 1hr 1/4!

congratulations... we are are day 22 since first mated her nipples havent yet changed what day did u first notice a change?

they were perky looking at 20 days, but they have changed in colour now too........

thanks, she is sleeeping more but apart from that she is the same as before i just cant bear waiting the last weeks have dragged she had 3 matings with ties but now you have said about her nipples changing from day 20 im starting to doubt if she caught.

Took my girl for another scan yesterday, she would have been 40 days, had a scan done at 28 days and we though she was. But yesterdays showed nothing, I'm gutted. She has some signs but vet said she couldn't find a thing! I am going to treat her as I would have done if she was, in the vain hope that there might be 1 puppy in there.

I'm really sorry to hear that, you must be devastated :-( .................fingers crossed for you that one is lurking somewhere.........

the scanner I used wouldn't scan us at 29 days.....
